hey,
i was looking at YT lately and i thought i may try to make a few buck via their partenership program. I still have a few question for which i'm not able to find specific/conclusive answer, i will really appreciate if anyone can help me with these:

1- When a video play a video ad at the beginning, does it necessarely mean the uploader get paid for it/is part of YT partnership?

2- Sometime i stumble on video that are evident TV rip of some kind (like this one: /watch?v=VFHWb7IuPno or this one /watch?v=zOkOGsxEhxk), where you can see at the end/beginning the real channel name with credits and all, and there is still an ad playing at the start. Does it mean the uploader is making money? Will the video stay online and monetize as long as nobody is claiming copyright infringement?

3- Can you make several YT account and monetize all of them under the same adsense account?

4- Reffering to #3, what happen if you get one account banned? Does it hurt your adsense profile in any way?

5- And if one of your video is banned due to copyright, does that hust the rest of your YT account?

6- Finnaly, about using other's material in my video, like news segment or part of documentary/tv show, at wich point will it be concidered copyright violation? I see lot of YTubers using content and just changing it in some way, like adding an outline to the vid or something so it would be concidered a different vid by bot, i'm i getting it right here?

Hi, welcome to the forum. I'll do my best to answer your Q's..

1) This means the uploader or copyright holder is getting paid for the ads on the video. If a TV show or music video has ads then it is likely that the record label/tv company is showing ads on the video.

2) As long as nobody claims the content as their's and Youtube doesn't reject your monetization claim then you can monetize it.

3) Yes

4) No, Youtube accounts are banned seperately from your adsense account.

5) No, you need 3 copyright strikes to ban 1 account. This will not have any effect on your other accounts.

6) You can try to use copyrighted material and edit it to evade Youtube's content ID system however it is still very unlikely you will be able to monetize it as you have to prove to Youtube you own the rights to the content.

There are ways around this but I will not go into details on a public forum as it is illegal to do so.

Some of my videos have been claimed by the copyright owner, and they run ads regardless of my choice. The point is,

A video can be running ads on your channel, but it doesn't mean you're the one earning.

So if we take the first example i posted previously, /watch?v=VFHWb7IuPno
this guy seem to be regularly uploading 40-42 min tv show recored from live tv (for example this one is from "channel FIVE", i think its from britain) and lots of his video have over 1M views. He have 12M views total, and all his video (all the one i checked) have video ad at the start. So, let's say we take a modeste rate of 1$ per 1K views, it would mean his channal has generated 12K$ so far only uploading tv show.

First, it seem alot of money for the work the guy has done, is it possible or i'm missing something? And has you say funkyB, i guess maybe the uploader is not the one getting the money, so if he is not, that mean YT will somehow send the generated money to "channel FIVE" or whoever is the copyright holder?

MistaMiagi, you're right.

But as you mentioned, that guy got all the profit for those 12M views, his videos are not getting copyright claimed/matched 3rd party content. But I'm not sure if he paid for license so he owns the rights to publish & monetize.

It's a good channel to rip though, it looks yummy.

And is it possible to create several YT account from the same ip an verified them using the same phone number? And if you do this, is there a risk later that all your account get banned at the same time because of IP/phone association?

I believe this is possible, I have several accounts created with the same IP. Youtube will not mass ban accounts due to copyright problems.

well i'm not going to spam or do any BH marketing or anything, just upload content that probably have copyright but that noone is claiming and try to monetize through normal YT ads. So thats why i thought i may be ok creating account myself and using the same IP/phone, but i'm really not sure about that and i prefer knowing it before i start bulding all that so i dont end up having long term problems if someone someday happen to reclaim copyright.

edit: i also plan on making 100% legit youtube channels with content created/owned 100% by me in the near future. So if there is any chance i get in trouble with YT for uploading "grayzone copyright material" i'll use different IP/phone for these account so i'm sure nothing happen to my other 100% legit channels in the future...

So it mean you can create several YT account under the same IP, verify using the same phone? And if one of your video/account get flagged for copyright it will not affect your other YT account, at all?

The worst that can happejn is one of your video is blocked or one of your account is block, or the ads $$ will go to the people who own the copyrights?

As long as I always clear cookies ect. and run ccleaner after every Account I create I can make unlimited numbers of Accounts on the same IP.
You can use 1 Phone number for about 5 Accounts, you can make everyday like 2 Accounts without having them to be phone verified and every month you can use that phone number again for a few Accounts.
To speak from my experience I would say as long as a Account breaks no Youtube rules, its not being affected by other Accounts being flagged.
