Was there a google update monday?

This may have already been asked (I didn't see anything) but i've noticed some craziness between 5 different sites i manage.

1) One of the sites had it's traffic jump from around 1,000 visits a day to 1,900 visits a day. This site is about 12 years old usually has pretty stable traffic.
2) Another site i have had it's traffic halved. This site is 2 years old.
3) Yet another site had it's traffic reduced by about 30%. This site is 9 years old.

All were whitehat sites.

Are there ways to determine if there was a google update?

nowadays SERPs dance pretty often, so its hard to tell if update happened or not

were the sites in the same niche or in the same language? Google constantly runs their algo through different parts of SERPs, so just your sites/niches might get updated

Two of my sites increased in traffic this week, but I can't say for sure since there was some light work done on them.

I haven't noticed any noticeable changes in the SERP's I'm folliwing.

there are forever changes daily in the serps but no major update last monday.
