Abuse Of Star Rating System In BST Section

Hi,

Its happening with every other new thread which goes live In BST section, competitors start giving it low ratings so potential clients think that the service is not good.

How some body can rate a thread Bad when it went live just minutes ago and you have'nt even tested It.

There should be something done about this.

This is a good point. I think a lot of the time, the only people who actually take the time to rate a thread are the ones opposed to it. I wouldn't miss it if it were removed, IMHO.

It wouldn't be too difficult to catch these fuckers.

Just look at the accounts that are abuse-rating the BSTs. They will be the same accounts doing it to all the other BSTs.

After you've caught all of the accounts, just look for the BST(s) that hasn't been abuse-rated.

Ban the accounts, and the main account that's created them.

Then close their BSTs for all their fuckery.


Intentionally abusing a rating system with the intention of causing monetary loss to competitors should not be taken lightly.

my service now 3 and a half yrs old
has over 700 subs 0 refunds yet has a 3 star rating
which wont be from my subs, but those i refused to sell to

but u no what, i dont care, if your product is good if your
service like mine has 0 refunds in almost 4yrs, no amount
of dumb ass mark downs will make a jack shit difference

Agreed, Its been abused and happening everyday now, when you have itraders, reviews so whats the point of having star ratings which can be easily manipulated. Doesn't make sense to me.

People who buy the service will post a review in the thread rather than rating it, at least that's what I do.

i had 1 dick do me a neg itrader about 2 yrs ago my only 1.

but not for bad service, but for refusing to tell to him
and he -1 itrader me for a service i wouldnt give him
his user name was doctor and he is now banned
and that -1 is gone

but you will find the high proportion of the star mark downs
will be from people who wont pay your price,
some you refused to sell to, like i do alot
and the rest from your bhw competition although openly
they wouldn't admit it, ive never once in 6 yrs on bhw
marked down a users sales thread, im to busy with my own

I - traders and reviews are enough to determine quality of a service, because only buyer can use it, but star ratings can be manipulated by anyone so there is no point of having them.

I was recently given another 30 - 1 star votes to one of my service. I request Admin to remove those votes as this will just spoil the whole market place section as everyone will start doing it to vote down competitors. This has happened to both the services which i am currently running here, I request a reply from some admin regarding this.

I was given like 25 - 1 star votes in past 24 hours on both the threads i am running. PM sent to the admin already and i am expecting them to remove the 1 star votes from my threads because they are obviously fake and do something about this rating system which can be abused by competitors.

Ratings is always a good sign to know about a service and a member who hasn't tried the service can't rate the thread on seeing the sales pitch alone ?

My second thread now from last few hours some body has start giving that low ratings aswell, so there is a same group which is doing it. After having all the positive reviews both my threads are now rated with only 2 stars which means "BAD".

That Sucks.

Same here, i think that system should be removed or atleast moderators should have access to it so that if they see a thread getting 30 negative votes in period of 24 hours, they can remove it. Otherwise its not difficult to make a bot and do this for as many threads as you like.

Its a good point raised.. If your service rocks and its pretty popular then the negative markers will automatically shut their mouth.
