Well technically when you do SEO and rank for the right keywords then people will find your app via Google and install it that way.

There are people that use search engines to find apps.

Did you know that just like there is a google search for Web Images and Videos there is an APP search too? If you know a bit of SEO then you can apply the same science for Apps and Bingo!

I'm going to have to agree with dennisyu here. All the big games you see are paying to be in the top apps. How? They are paying for active installs on a pay per install basis. App Store and Google Play SEO is pretty non existent when it comes to being on the top free or top paid app page.

Friend of mine who has extremely popular game with over 50mill downloads says it takes about $150k investment into marketing to make it to the top. Moreover you should take into consideration that each country has it's own toplist aswell

seo will not affect much, people search for apps . but searches on google keyword planner are not too much.

try advertising on facebook cheapest.
