Hi,

I'm running a local business in Thailand and I'm desperately trying to get it to #1 on Google Thailand
I've already bought various packages from SEO services from the board, the result is: I'm #1 everywhere except for Google Thailand (or any other google if surfing with a thai IP) i've got backlinks on various thai TLD sites already which didn't really do anything.

My biggest (and only) competitor does next to no SEO and always comes up #1 on google thailand for some reason, the only advantage he has is that his domain is 1 month older than mine.

Anyone any ideas what else I could try ?

Do a careful analysis of the top 7 local businesses, and do what they do. One month of domain age shouldn't be the only reason. You are missing something.

Well there is no other local businesses, there's me and him. He's #1 I'm #2 on google Thailand, any other Google (With US IP for example) I own the first page for every relevant keyword. One really big confusing point is, we have the EXACT same name + domain name, only thing different is my domain has an "s" added at the end.

Make sure you check your onpage score too. use ibp to get top 10 and compare them with urs. am sure that it will help!

Check for anchor text diversity. Mostly u need to have your local cities keyword in your actual keyword.

Make sure you get some links from local domains.

get some lsi keywords that includes your locality names in it. so it will show that your keyword is location targeted one.

You need to hire someone specialist yo check your website and analyse your competitor.

I second on hiring a professional resource while you are working in building your businesss

obvious / cliche joke mode:

So he has just one ladyboy and you have many?

What do your citations look like? I would look into that and also see what your competitors local citations look like.

Your domain name is the problem. The actual keyword that is driving the traffic is the non plural of the keyword (I bet), and he has an EMD. You cannot outrank this person very easily. The EMD is too strong of an advantage.

couple things you can do...

1) get a Thailand Ip for your site (Google likes local IP's)
2) Add more onpage SEO - make sure you have Thailand mentioned on your page a couple times.
3) If you do not have an address in Thailand on your website (full address with street number etc) add that in on the footer of each page.

First you must got thailand hosting for that. That's mean your website IP is based on thailand. This is a MUST for local SEO.

Secondly, focus on building local citation for your website. Go to Fiverr, there is some good local citations provider for 5$.

Thirdly, submit your website to Google places and create Google page as well.

I know these because I also have local business in my town.

Same stuff everybody else said. Focus on on page seo/social media pages. Facebook/Google+/Twitter with your address?
Rich snippets on your page?
Google author?
All of these help. Even if you're not #1 you can get more clicks if you have the Google author setup properly.
Reviews are huge.
If you have any questions just PM me I'm bored.

My first and best suggestion would be to add your website to google webmaster tool and specify google your target country and believe me if you are not using country specific domain name it will really help you to get more growth of your ranks in local country search engine. I tested it and it worked for me last time.

set thailand as your contry in the webmaster tools
get some thai links
