[JOURNEY] 100+ dollars a day or die trying

Alright, I've no idea what exactly in my post is triggering the moderation system despite going over the rules. This is much abridged compared to the original.

DAY 1

This all actually started around July 4th when I purchased the VPS, as well as my first tool here on BHW.

Thus far, I've finally worked out all the bugs and little quirks to get my VPS up and running smooth, and have one adult niche tube site. Traffic was non-existent until yesterday. I've gone from almost nothing to 55 unique visitors.

Traffic is being pulled in from a (moderated). I'm going to try to lay low with the clickthrough links to the adult site for a little while longer until I can get more followers, since I only have a total of 80 across 10 accounts right now. I've also linked the tube site to various social networking sites.

As for where to go from here, I'm torn between setting up another much better looking adult niche tube site, and trying my hand at adsense or a non-adult cpa offer. I've a list of seemingly low volume (tens of thousands of monthly searches) keywords relevant to something I'm genuinely interested in, and thus may try to build a site to monetize that. More research is necessary to see if I can work some angle via (moderated) with my non-adult niche. On the other hand, the only thing left to research before building the other tube site is some foreign language keyword research, and maybe considering another monetization scheme for it, perhaps a content locker of some sort.

My short term goal is to be making a decent daily income in the double figures in two months, and I hope this is achievable by working 15+ hours a day, and with a bit more money at my disposal for investing in tools and services.

Yeah, I'm a bit scatterbrained right now; my VPS hosting through Arvixe has been something of a nightmare thus far. After reconfiguring content and ad placement on my one adult site, the entire thing became completely inaccessible and riddled with php errors. Funny thing is none of this happened on their shared plan; I made the mistake of believing that my site as it was was ready to go on the server and that it would only be a matter of replicating it. Instead I've spent about the past week or so trying to figure out how to get a single site to work. Either way, I think I've narrowed it down, and if they don't manage to get it fixed in good time I'm considering cutting my losses and moving to another adult-friendly provider.

Anyhow,

DAY 2

So far, I laid out a template for the non-adult site overnight last night, a sort of on-site seo optimized framework already in place just waiting for content if I decide to go that route. Not an income generating activity by itself, but it gave me some time to think about my next move. I then proceeded to try to do the same for what would have been my second adult site; however, the past 3 hours have been lost to the server randomly deciding to pwn the clean install on a new domain before I could even begin. Hopefully I'll be back up and running really, really soon, but until then I suppose I can do more research, or better yet, finally just sit down and set up a LAMP stack on my home network for development rather than playing with a live deployment.

In summary:

LOST: 6 hours since this past midnight, due to technical difficulties with the first adult site crapping out on me, and having the runaround with this new installation.

GAINED: $3.50 in PPL, two leads. Better than the zero dollar figure I was used to two days ago.

More to come soon. I'll be more forthcoming about what I'm up to as soon as BHW lets me, which if I recall correctly is soon. We can make that happen quicker if someone will ask me pointed questions that I can easily deliver vague, moderation-evading answers to without stuffing my post count.

Thanks for the encouragement mate. Granted, it's counter to what I've gathered to be the case when it comes to using adult content, but still, encouraging nonetheless.
I don't mean to give you a hard time or anything, but, me still really being a noob and all, I invite you or anyone else to correct me if I'm wrong.

DAY 3 & 4​

When you don't sleep most nights, the concept of a day ends up boiling down to semantics. I'll at the very least make sure my posting frequency is at an update every other day.

My VPS is back up! And then the power went out. God'am. Once the power came back on, I managed to get everything sorted out with my ads and social network connections on my first site. On to research, my second BHW purchase, and site development.

Thus far, my two major purchases have been xtumblebot and Content Lock Pro. It's too soon to say how effective the former is since I've had too much downtime to be judging traffic, and the latter I just purchased in the last 12 hours. Set up was easy in both cases. Other potential purchases include the socialexchangebots for automatic all of this social network link sharing that goes with getting traffic started. I've also found something curious, but I don't think it will fit into my current business model, a wordpress plugin called sneaky affiliate. I get the feeling that the function it serves can be done for free or is already packaged into another program suite.

As for research, I'm a bit trouble by the issue of content delivery. Right now I'm only self-hosting minimal content that I feel safe in doing so, and using embeds from the popular tube sites for everything else. Although I'm generally safe legally doing the latter, I'm concerned that I lose traffic and ranking by linking so much to so many tube sites. Attempting to find a way around that might not be cost effective enough to pursue; trying to retain whatever traffic I'm losing to the big boys might not be worth the trouble and cost of covering myself in legal kevlar.

Aside from maintaining the xtumblebot campaign, settling on CLP, and doing the bit of research (all during any downtime, of course), I've been developing what's going to be my adult site template. As convenient as the theme from adult site skins is, I don't trust anything freely available as such, especially in the adult world, and I want something better looking and compatible with almost all browsers and devices. I'll have it ready before this weekend, in time to have the second website live.

No earning to report given the downtime.

As a way of giving back to the community, and once I have everything sorted, I'll have a refined step-by-step guide for my adult site method. There are already two good quality posts here outlining how to get started in this, but they left me with some unanswered questions. I'll post the answers, my twists, and edits to any obsolete info later on in.

Quick update for

DAYS 5 & 6

Before closing of day 5 I finished what will work for a pretty spiffy looking adult site, and best of all, it's almost 100% mobile compatible. The only reason I won't be using it as a template is because there are some things I'm not too happy with in regards to how I achieved some of the features and the subsequent effect on page load speed. This was due to being in a hurry: I jynxed myself with my last post and experienced another power outage, and lost a hard drive.

So, now the focus is establishing a baseline of automated social network traffic generation, on as large a scale as possible per site. I'm looking into a fiverr gig to give a quick injection to the facebook profile of the new site, as well as something besides just xtumblebot for time-efficient social networking. Once enough has been set in place for that, I'll launch a few more websites before diversifying into some other method.

DAY 14

No, I havn't given up or burnt out yet. I've been very busy getting automation set up for the small tasks that have been slowing me down. Between two small purchases, the pro version of the SNAP wordpress plugin as well as a well rounded addmefast program, my social network hustle pretty much runs itself now; five stumbleupon accounts, five twitter accounts, and one addmefast account for each of five sites now. This leaves me to focus on procuring/distributing content, keyword research, and linkbuilding... hell, everything else at this point. I'm currently looking into a way to efficiently manage said other aspects in mass so that I can start generating more serious traffic. I find I've relied too heavily on social signals, and I am currently investigating the use of SEO tools for adult sites (scrapebox, GSA SER, etc.).

Outside of the adult niche, a friend of mine with a social networking site was interviewed on tv recently, with over 5 million viewers. I've offered to build a mobile compatible version of his site to redirect his mobile traffic to and split the profits 50/50, and he has accepted.

Good thing I don't sleep much. Stay tuned.
