Hey guys, is blanking the referrer generally for:

1) people that work with incent networks that use copyrighted material when they're not supposed to

or

2) people that work with non incent networks and want to incentivize the offer without the network knowing?

also is it easy to 'get away' with blanking the referrer?

thanks

It can used for both 1 and 2. But majority of People use it because they content lock copyrighted material. The question you asked me in P.M was about copyrighted material. That's why I recommended you to Buy content lock pro or mighty content locker to stay on the safe side.

So if someone has copyrighted material is it better/safer to go with a non incent network (which generally pays more) or incent network? What are the chances of being caught in both scenarios? also if everyone puts in legit info that fills the survey out (real email name etc) but don't really convert on the back end for the advertiser can u be held responsible for that? Or do they only check to see if legit people filled out the info. Thanks

Non incent networks are more vigilant and very soon they will start asking about your traffic source if you will blank the referrer. I will recommend you to go with incent offers.
THey may start shaving if the info is not converting and the chances of getting banned is higher in non-incent offers.

The only reason to blank referrer is to hide your traffic source.
You only want to hide the traffic source when you do something illegal.

Some networks even have rules against blank referrers and require all traffic sources to be visible.
