Just checked some of my clients backlinks profile, one of them is ranking top 3 in similar difficulty keyword, he has done like 4-5 301 redirects, but i can see those redirects on Ahrefs. This guy might be blocking ahrefs(which is hard to do, i did it in past but links and redirects still show up).

Thought this myself! SEO Newbie perhaps, mind you if you have seen some of the plebs working at SEO agencies then perhaps he is an "expert".

As for the domain, no way is he ranking purely on the basis of 3000+ (Or whatever it is i can't remember) site wide links of like 50 referring domains. I do remember reading the blog of a good friend where he said these site wide links were starting to be devalued, that was a few years back. I have no proof myself as i don't build those styles of link but my buddy is a genuine SEO expert with a decent portfolio of money sites so suspect this is pretty true.

That same server hosts a few sex chat types sites anyway and you can bet he owns more. (Basically he probably owns a private network which is ghosted and secured up to the max from prying eyes)

I bet if you did enough digging in his link profile and other sites on the server you would find atleast one or two of the 301 redirects to him. Then cross reference the links / whois / footprints / common platforms / themes and a bunch of other stuff and you would definitely get a rough idea on where some of the juice is coming from.

I'm guessing the guy who built the site is good though! You will likely need to be a blackhat expert to dig deep enough and know what your looking at to get the picture, which i somehow doubt you are.

Maybe pay one of us lot to dig into it for you? (Not me! I have too many projects on atm!)

Are you 100% sure you know exactly what a 301 redirect does? Somebody can hide their entire link profile by building all the backlinks to another domain and using a 301 to the site which will rank - and never build any backlinks to the actual site that's ranking. Clearly this is what is happening here.

And you can block AhrefsBot in .htaccess and nobody would be able to see that. AhrefsBot is not blocked - by the way - on that particular URL so I am assuming it's just blocked on all the 301'ed site(s).

This is one of those situations where everyone is telling you it's this one thing and for some reason you refuse to accept it - what are the odds that we are all wrong? Nobody is putting up any other argument other than the 301.

I know very well what you are saying. You're absolutely right. I experienced this myself on some projects.

All you have to do is block every bot that crawls for backlinks through htaccess and then 301 a powerful domain as well..

I do think its an interesting concept to 'trick' the google bots.. Is this really possible to fake information?

he use 301 redirect only for google IPs
some sites are this

sexstory.com

if a google IP visit these sites they redirect to sex-chat.xxx
