Before I begin - I'd Like To State that I am not affiliated with Link Detox in any way

Poisonous & Crappy links (And Spam Links Often Done By Competitors - Read About "Negative SEO") Play a large part in getting your site penalized. While Google Disavow can Remove Backlinks, Most Of us never use it coz we dont know which links are bad. Ahrefs can probably list all you backlinks, but checking each link manually is almost not possible.

I Read another thread here about someone's 17k project getting messed up due to a penality& decided to post this.

Link Detox (Not my Site) - http://www.linkdetox.com/ - Can Probably help you. It helps to analyse your existing links, marks them as ok, bad, poisoinous etc.. Find Poisonous Links using Link Detox & Remove Them Using Google Disavow.

So, If you have a big project that has already consumed a lot of money, effort, then you might want to try it.

It's a good tool. I have a few issues with their CemperTrust algorithm and what they flag up as suspicious in some cases - but that's just an invitation to use other tools to verify a good/bad link, which you should be doing anyway.

Overall though it's a good introductory tool for spam detection. Use due diligence and it can help you with a clean-up of your site.

But man oh man, their display and retargeting ads are fucking horrendous!

There are several threads about linkdetox already but still it is not so popular here It's a must use tool. You can use it at least once a week to check your link profile.

since its 3rd party software nit googles you actually dont know how accurate it is.
but it sure does help a bit, usualy their toxic links are really toxic. but healthy + suspicious has many mistakes

It's a brilliant tool especially when used alongside removal tools, moderate links do normally need a manual going over. It can flag a lot of links as suspicious for silly reasons. You can't rely on it completely but it defiantly speeds things up!

If you have a lot of bad links and really do want to get out of a penalty i would also recommend 'rmoov' Its a bit like email marketing software but makes contacting site owners a lot easier and can be exported to show a list of contacted owners and how many times they have been contacted. This is what Google wants to see, effort on your part.
