Hey guys so the other day i checked my the analytics for a site i do not do anything to link wise anymore and in one day it jumped in visits then went back down. Can anyone explain this?

Did you do like a solo ad campaign or something? It could be a number of reasons. The traffic is definitely not from search engines because it wouldn't go up and down significantly like that.

Check traffic sources in analytics. If possible post a snapshot. It will be easier to analyse once we see the snapshot.

Could've been someone posted a link on a blog/forum, then it moved off of the front page. Also could've been Google moving you around the SERPs.

I have seen this happen many times before, I don't know what dose it but, I had a site that once a month around the same time the traffic would jump by around 1500 to 2000 visits in one day every month.

You would have done Press release submission and your news would have came up in 1st page or some thing similar this would be the reason i guess. Mostly PR sites submits news to all other PR sites it won't happen in a single day.

Can you check the difference in sources at the point when you got jump in traffic and overall stats?

Just select a shorter time frame (21-23 Jun) and then post the report.
