Turned down for job -- but wait!

Went and applied at a local programming shop here in town, got turned down FLAT! Wouldnt be too bad, but I trained all their programmers, now they tell me I have too much experience to work there! LOL Oh well, I really wanted to get back out of driving a truck -- this just isnt the time. What I am learning here and elsewhere will get me off the road soon I hope though!

Nothing here to jump to -- I am old enough that I want a good job and to stay in one place for several years. Oh well just emailed the Economic community development(and a few others) here in Tn about my old training course for programmers, maybe they know someone interested in it.
Not worried about a job, that would actually have been a massive pay cut for me -=- just wanted to go back to programming all day! Oh well, like one of the Marx bros said -- if they really were dumb enough to want me to work there, they were too stupid for me to work with! LOL

This. People over 40+ that went back to get their masters phd and all of that have to compete with college students that just got out. And most of the people that went back can't even get jobs because they're over-qualified.. shit sucks..

brb going back to get more education
brb finish and have to compete with students in their 20s
brb can't get hired because im over qualified
brb thousands of dollars in debt
brb working at walmart to pay off student loans

If your in alot of debt from school you did it wrong, People that want to get a degree should take CLEP and go to community college first than go to a in state 4 yr school, or go overseas where its alot cheaper.

The entire being "overqualified" for something is complete bs, companies should just say were afraid you may quit this jump after a short while than give that excuse.

Well then tell them all their programmers are over-qualified too due to your training, then take them all and start a new shop.

That's the way I'm doing it. Much easier on my debt if I spend money that I actually have than spending money that I don't have, only to pay more in the long run. Some people can't fathom the fact that you can go to school and work like a BAWS and NOT have to get into debt at all. Some people want to live like they have someone else's wallet.

I also hate it when an interviewer gives you the "over-qualified" crap!
