depending on what exactly you want to do.
One of the best, in my personal opinion, is Xrumer which you can use it either for black hat seo or even for white hat if of course you use it wisely and SMART.

Hey Deerlrac, Its as nickk is telling you, it all really depends on exactly which route u r taking with your seo. Personally I use a combination of things like seo elite, comment kahuna etc but thats cos I am taking the white hat route for that particular site. I have only ever used the trial version of IBP & also Webpro 4 but found to be quite good.
Again your choice is gonna depend on both your experience level & also your code knowledge etc for onpage. Onpage doesnt really factor that greatly but can help boost your rankings in both niches with good link popularity & also highly competitve terms. People always overlook things like alt tags etc which can greatly improve your relevancy in the serps.
Let me know what level your at and hoepfully I can offer some sound advice! please bear in mind I am only self taught though & dont profess to be an expert!

Nice of you to offer some constructive info to help this guy! Anyone who knows their onions my friend will tell that its all about link profile - so SEO elite actually enables you to easily see your competitors link strucutre in details plus all the other features then how can it be s**t???

With regards pro version - I aint used it yet is it any good?

I have being using SEO elite and it is a very useful tools if not the best for doing backlink research. The software is being updated often. Just get it. You have to watch some video to use this tool to its best and use your imagination like every good tool.

I have used WebCEO & to be fair its not a bad tool - bit like IBP really. Where as SEO elite focuses mainly on link profiles & buildin, ie off page factors! the ones that count ;_) WebCEO & IBP are to be fair a more comprehensive rounded product that enable you to look at both on & off page

Both are good! I have always used SE as at time it was on a deal and to be honest back then knew feck all bout SEO. Still dont!! LOL!!

If you know basic html etc you can do your own on page & things like keyword density arent paramount 3-6% no more! download seoquake its a great tool for both writing seo friendly pages & also just in general!, meta's still count same as h1's&2's etc, alts & all that, but the bigger picture if who links to you & how & what the quality of your links are. Besides your seo efforts will be heavily dictated by the nature & competiveness of the market you're hittin

So I guess in a long winded way if you know code go for the cheaper option of SE and do your own onpage least your controlling it hen & can easily track & amend!

SEO Elite is a good tool, but for competitor backlinks research SEO Spyglass is much better IMHO, i use the free version which is nearly full functional, the only downsde is that you can't save reports.

In my experience, IBP is the best then seo elite. Seo elite is really good because Brad C. sends a weekly tutorial that teaches you step by step how on how search engines work and how to effectively use the program to get top placement. It's because of that tutorial I was able to get my website #1 on google for a very competitive keyword.

I personally like seo elite and se nuke. You should be able to find those two on the net for free but the best is probably is xrummer but there's no crack so your looking at over $500 so I wouldn't buy it unless your trying to run a big SEO campaign.
