Perhaps the title is a bit harsh. I know Google hates me.

Ok, I didn't get penalized or anything. I did however stupidly get my Adsense account banned because I linked to one of my sites in my signature that happened to have Adsense on it. Google noticed how much traffic I was getting from BHW, and decided that these were invalid clicks.

No problem though, I'm back up and running with Clicksor, not sure I want to go through the hassle of getting another Adsense account or appealing again.

Moral of the story: Don't be stupid.

Adsense is brilliant dude, don't get me wrong. Implement it properly and you will make money, but you should always have a backup plan because it also happens to be highly unstable and untrusting.

Adsense is unstable, hopefully if you are getting good traffic, you can still use many ways to monetize your site !

Because my sidebars would be empty without them.

In all seriousness though, this site is not my main source of leads. I believe that interested clients will make themselves known and I would rather take advantage of all traffic I get instead of hoping for a small portion of that traffic to convert.

I went a long time without any ads at all on my site, and the amount of business I got did not make any noticeable change when I finally did implement them.

Media.net is invite only dude. Plus they rejected my application I will see how it goes with Clicksor.

Adsense is the lazy alternative to generating online revenue.
Yes, it brings money, but nowhere near what other forms of monetization could bring.
If you have the incredible advantage of having targeted traffic putting adsense would be like having one of those expensive fishes in shitty water.

Capture emails, get leads, segment the leads, sell them or use them for your own services or outsource services to them. Sell them shit, do whatever, but don't waste such a goldmine with adsense.

Even making a proper pitch to different companies and singing contracts with them would bring you more money than having the space filled by random adverts.

As I've said before in other threads, the only reason to run adsense would be if you have an ultra mixed traffic and there was no way of segmenting it. You can always segment it but it might not be worth the effort, fair enough then.

You're right dude. It's a very lazy way of doing things. But that's sort of the point, I don't want to work hard when I know I don't have to. Plus it doesn't affect clients who are interested in doing business, it is more of a cherry on top of my IM cake.
