Salty's steps into YT + CB

Ok I was going to keep this to my blog, but I thought I would also record it here on venture into youtube videos linking to Click bank.

My FIRST step, was selecting a clickbank product. After much reading I realised this was by FAR the most important aspect of a successful campaign. This is because;

1. There are plenty of terrible products on CB
2. There are plenty of terrible sites promoting the products
3. There are plenty of sites which try to filter your traffic for free

So I dedicated myself to finding a product I could morally promote (not some scam cancer cure, how could someone promote this seriously to people so desperate for a cure they would try this as a last ditch attempt?!?), who had a good sales page and also didn't try to steal my commission through pop-up optin form. I also tried to fit this general criterior;

1. Low gravity (below 30)
2. High average commission
3. Ability to promote on youtube

I finally found a product which satisfied this for me. So the next step was deciding on an angle to get visitors, for obvious reasons i'm not going to show my niche or angle I went for. However I will say it's not anything like "product name" review or anything like that. A common problem I see in this forum is that people don't think away from the completely obvious ways to get traffic. They will focus on the product name only, or get way too specific with not enough traffic.

From here I downloaded several video's off youtube, made my own intro/ending and watermarked the video (using iMovie). Ready to be uploaded. I did research using the KW tool off google and checked google's rankings with a free seo toolbar. It seemed extremely easy to rank.

To this date I have uploaded 2 videos to my channel and ordered 5k high retention views for each video along with 100-500 likes, also adding 1k subscribers to my channel (I think this goes a long way to ranking in YT SERPs).

Now I am going to sit and wait to see how it goes from here, I have another 2 video's to upload. But i'll probably do that tomorrow.

Current Stats:
Spent: $25
Earnt: $0
Hops: 4

The subscribers have started coming through, but the likes/views have not. No backlinking has been done. Wish me luck guys!

My hops have steadily increased, which is a great sign! I'm currently at 16 hops per day and have uploaded one more video to youtube. I'm dedicating today to creating at least 2-3 more videos and uploading them, maybe even doing an informational video to help bring credibility to my channel.

My subscriptions have come in, GREATLY over the 1k I ordered, i'm now sitting at 1.7k subs which is great, if anyone wants the fiverr gig I used let me know. The likes and views have also come in perfectly.

I don't think I will purchase views and likes for them all as at $10 a video it will start getting too costly. I'll track how my promoted videos vs unpromoted compare relative to clicks and make a decision based on that.

My hops per day have increased to 16 per day, which i'm very happy with. My goal for a weeks time is to be average 100 per day. At that rate I hope I can get at least 1 sale every second day. Then from there I might start split testing CB products to see which converts better.



The main goal from here on in, is to keep up the momentum and expand my niche until I get the number of hops required. Then the sky is the limit!

I believe there is a similar feature in google webmaster tools mate.

It creates a random number between 1-10, if it is less than 5 it redirects to "Link 1", if higher than 5 its redirects to "link 2"

my 1st thought was that you are redirecting them to some other offer targeted to specific country. Thanks for explaining.

No worries, I'm not doing CPA but rather direct linking to a click bank product. So I'm trying to split test the different products to see which has the best conversion rate, then I'll just simply do a 301 re-direct to that offer.

Well holy shit, went to sleep last night and woke up to find 159 hops to date from today, from basically two videos. I'm guessing those two suddenly hit high in youtube's SERP's. I got 4 order form impressions but no sales, so i'll just have to wait for my first sale. Good news is that I was not expecting this much traffic! I was actually aiming for 100 hops per day by the end of the week, but I have already surpassed it. I think I'm going to up my goal to 500 hops per day.

Does anyone know when I can finally post pictures?

Other good news is that my split-testing script is working perfectly, so all around I am a happy man. I uploaded one video yesterday, purchasing a fiverr gig promoting it. Will be uploading another today when I am at work and have a better internet connection.

In 2 days, you have already gotten 159 hops?

I am fairly angry / jealous if you don't mind. I have 60 videos up, I've easily accumulated about 200,000 - 300,000 views between my 60 videos, and I only get about 20 hops a day.

Something very weird is going on. There is no way you're ranking high on google that quick, and if its high rankings on youtube, it must be high search keywords, which should have a lot of competition.

Can you please share more details about keyword volume, competition for your keywords, anything you can?

I have never seen, heard, anything like that in my life. You have to share more about your keyword process please.

About posting pics, I'm not 100% sure but it has to be either 25 posts or 50 posts.

I spent hours looking for a program that I was happy to promote, then instead of looking for the competition for keywords such as "product name" review, etc. I looked at the demographic I was targetting and would be interested in the product.

For instance if I was promoting some sort of fitness health niche aimed at young women there is NO WAY I would post some crappy review, or try to target "how to get fit", etc. That's simply too obvious, instead target video's they would be watching, then post a call to action through notes, and also subscribe. So for the fitness example I would find out what the hell is popular amongst women aged between 18-25, do my keyword research from there. What would they go to YT to watch? Then I would simply download a few videos, make an introduction/ending if it fits and watermark the video.

I think the key to getting so many hops is targetting the DEMOGRAPHIC and not the product. After all that is what advertisers do in the real world. Beer commercials are huge amongst sporting events, why? Because their target audience is men, who are the ones watching that!

So maybe if you are targetting women, why not put up some nail/hair tutorials, etc. then link it to the offer you are promoting. The most important thing is to getting people to watch, then from there the matter is to simply link them to an offer.

I'm thinking if I get these sort of hop numbers regularly I will change from direct linking to an email optin with a pdf on my niche as the "reward", then grow a mailing list.

I wouldn't start getting paranoid till he passes the 250-300 mark without a sale.

And thanks Salty for giving me more info about what you're doing. I've never really considered a technique like that so the mere creativity of the idea is valuable to me. You could also reduce a ton of competition by working that way.
