getting and staying ranked are 2 different things, especially when dealing with a real brick and mortar business who do not have disposable domains..

I am specifically talking about SEO's who sell SEO services, I am not against churn and burn for personal sites or even clients as long as they are aware of the risk.

(PS I have and do use BH services for my sites sometimes please keep what I am saying in context)

From a psychological perspective I believe small goals can be beneficial to kick start ones career in IM if say the target was initially $5 per day once that has been achieved it could potentially develop a sense of confidence and enable the person to progress further setting a new larger goal. However if a person was to jump right off with a goal of $xxx,xxx per day I think its fair to say most would not respond positively whilst struggling to make their first $10 day.

I hear you OP, you belong to "Think big or go home" category But you said it yourself, you were also aiming for that once. And your appetites increased over time. This is only normal for almost every human that makes money. Who the hell would be happy with 5-10$/day for the rest of his life

I actually see it good to aim that small, if you're total beginner, because it's easier to achieve it and to taste the online success for the very first time. As you get experience and see what's really possible, you should know in what direction you will go next. I believe everyone is a "noob" until you know in which direction to go, that is until you have a crystal clear goal.

Another thing is disappointment. If you're noob enthusiast "on a journey to make $1000/day in 90 days" or so...You are likely to give up without ever reaching even fraction of that.
