Hi, any experts having experience in redirecting sites to sites, need your value answer to the below.
I got a site which rank #1 right now. Would like to redirect it to another local site of mine. Question is
1. what will happen to the redirected site if I made this happen.
2. how will google see it now, will they still crawl the redirected site?
3. is it ok to keep on SEOing the redirected site and continue to build articles on it?
4. Lastly, will there be any different in ranking for this way?
Thanks

Having said that, is it wise to keep on maintaining the #1 position for my redirected site? or once 301, the ranking will drop?

1. The old site will disappear from Google index and the new one will replace it. It may take some time so at first you can see both domains indexed which can result in changing rankings but finally you should have your old rankings back. But... it's important to redirect all pages to new addresses, instead of redirecting everything to the home page.
2. Yes, it will. So if you decide to delete redirection, Google will be able to notice it.
3. You can still get backlinks to it but adding new content won't help you in my opinion.
4. There shouldn't be any differences but you need to do it properly.
