Is this a good sign or am I missing something ?

I found a keyword which to me it looks very interesting but since keyword research and SEO in general is not my strongest point and
I always hire someone to take care of this side of the business, I thought to ask for some opinions from my fellow BHW members.

GAKT says it has 40K+ exact searches/month.
On google's first page there are no results with the keyword in the domain name except
a PartOfTheKeyword.Domain.com which is a subdomain and there is also a pinterest page (hm?).

My question is, in the eyes of someone who's doing seo everyday, is this an easy to rank keyword ?
Should I make a site and try to rank it or is here something that I don't understand ?

Exact Keyword Domains: They play a part in ranking but are not the most important thing.
How you are doing the SEO is what really matters, even tho the #1 spot might not have an exact match he has other factors affecting his ranking.

I suggest you try finding information on how many backlinks the competition has and work on from there.

I checked a few of them with ahrefs and the # of backlinks varies from 144 to 100K+. The higher they rank the bigger the # and the first few spots are some big authority sites.
In this case I can have a better chance with a youtube video ?

Check the anchor text of the website's backlinks and see if they're REALLY trying to rank. My guess is that they don't care so much for that keyword (or don't know about it) and you can capitalize on optimizing your website/page for the keyword.

Check for results with this keyword in the title (at the same beginning) as it's one of the strongest ranking factors. Then check whether the 1st page in Google shows only home pages of strong domains, or maybe there are lots of pages, ie. from directories or forums. The more home pages there are, the strongest the keyword is.

BTW, is it a single keyword or some longer one?

What sort of authority sites are near the top? Wikipedia? Amazon.com? Ebay? If so, your chances of overtaking them are pretty rough.

Also remember that the top 5 results on Page 1 get the vast majority of clicks, so you'd need to be sure it's going to be worth it trying to rank if you can't punch through the top 5 results.

Hey guys thanks for your replies,
most of the #1 results are not home pages and not wikipedia, amazon, ebay or anything big either and between the first 5 results is a
part-of-keyword.about.com and a pinterest page which 2 day ago was somewhere at the bottom and now is on spot #4.

I feel something good about this so I'm going to give it a shot with my (very few) SEO skills and see what happens.
