I didn't really know what title to make for this.

What kind of experiences do you guys on the forum have with competitors?

I went into IM thinking that everybody was serious about this and would treat it with a large amount of professionalism, but I soon found out I was wrong. Whenever I launch a website, some of the top ranking competitors fill up my inbox with quite literally hate mail - threats, insults, etc. None of it is grounded, but I just picture a bunch of sleazeballs running these websites.

Obviously I ignore it and push on, as this is probably the behavior of people who don't make vast amounts of money, I hope the big boys don't act like this.

Maybe they are serious and just want you to focus on them instead of furthering your own websites?

Professionalism is gained over time but politeness is a virtue!

You will always be facing crappy people when in the IM field because believe it or not Internet Marketing is a magnet for these kind of people.
Being honest here: In IM you come as close to cheating people as possible without actually doing it.
So you're borderline con-artist.

Hyping your product, promising the impossible etc. etc.

This is the reason sleazeballs are in such huge numbers, they're good at it.

IMO just ignore them and they'll go in a hole and die.

rofl who cares. You got the #1 spot and thats all that matters. May as well use it to your advantage and show your clients/customers the type of people they'd be dealing with.

Crush your competition in a fair way! let them email you all they want, they should be just wasting there time unless you are giving in to them. IM is one big competition, in all aspects of IM. Conduct yourself as a professional IM and let the garbage fight among themselves

This industry you are now involved in is like any other industry people will use any techniques they have available to them to win, This isn't the industry for the weak thats for sure.

The majority of people out there don't believe its possible to make huge sums of money without a highshchool diploma and this is because they were brought up to believe just that however for those of us who knew this industry provides open doors to freedom are rewarded.

At this point i have some new competion trying to compete against me with russian sape network however I am in the process of overcoming it,this is coming from someone who used to be a welfare child who is know making old man money as a young man.

How important is it to feeding your family ask yourself that first before you take the steps on taking it from your competitors and you will understand.

I agree with Ztak07...

If it is suitable to your subject show your clients exactly who your competitors, their possible service providers are... I've done this in the past where people have thrown a bunch of BS at me privately and of course said "and you won't post or answer this", then I do, and explain in a clear response why they are such A$$ h...s and have nothing to say but BS, and all my visitors, their possible visitor get to see it also... And probably chose not to go to their site...

Of course be picky about doing this or you will be caught up answering this stuff all the time.

If you're playing fair and making your competitors mad while at it, then you're doing a great job.

Its a part of the game. Some times they will threat you, some times they will insult you or even some of them no negative SEO.

Thanks guys - great advice - as posted above, I'll just keep on keeping on - its just annoying more than anything, especially when some of my sites aren't even ranked on the first page.

Man when you mess with someone's money they're be angry. Consider you're walking into a boxing ring and don't be surprised the other guy wants to knock your ass out. Its dog eat dog in IM.

Dog eat dog, but still I'd say black hats have better ethics than the newbies on other forums I've seen.

We know the damage done by malicious IM, but they are not deterred by ethics and will do *anything* to win. Soon they learn karma is a bitch and it bites you in the ass.

My advice is : play hard but play ethical all the way, or you'll get bitten soon.

Focus your time and energy in getting better at IM, getting better at the services you provide , getting better rankings instead of focusing on their hate mail.

Just put those mails in spam folder

If u focus on the right things, u should definitely succeed faster !

Speak for yourself, and another one on ignore and the never do business with list.

I'm not saying this is how EVERYONE does IM! I'm simply pointing out that IM-ers often sugar coat what they are trying to sell. Hyping it up.
In order to make more money with it!

This is what I meant! Do you disagree with this?

I've never gotten hate mail from a competitor, hell I talk to some of them on here lol.

I have been email bombed and DDOS'd but that doesn't last long. The only problem I would really run into is some competitors trying to do smear campaigns to ruin my name. They were never successful because my work speaks for itself.

If you're running into problems with competitors it just means you have them scared.

Keep doing what you're doing. There will always be haters out there wanting what you have.
