This is not a bad business model. My ex-gf used to hire someone to come clean up all the poo in her backyard. She had 3 dogs and fostered dogs while waiting for the shelters to find homes for them.

notice the ex, thats to many animal. OP I think your serious, sounds like a great idea, go for it. bundle services and upsell.

Congo for that. well be sure about the steps to dispose those waste thingy u collect else the issues will be tremendous and u may be in deep trouble causing harm worth more than the revenue. thats only the cautious factor!

I actually hired my little sister who is 18 to do some of it.

It's not bad I stay at home and do IM all day and once a week when I feel up to it I visit a clients house.

You need to scale this and bank HARD. I'm sure there is more than ~100 people that are willing to pay for your services.

Stop the 1 on 1 dog treats at the park. That is a waste of time. To make money, you need to spend money. Risk/return.

If I was in your position I would buy media slots. TV ads on your local news network during local news. Radio ads on local radio networks. Newspaper ads. Billboard rental in high traffic areas.

Hire people to do the work for you. Buy automobiles with your brand and information painted on the outside for you and your employees to drive. Free advertising.

You can dominate this niche. Imagine 100 yards for $5000 a month to 1000 yards and $50,000 a month.

Actually the one on one with dog owners is VERY EFFECTIVE as it leaves a impression on the person DIRECTLY.

Any questions or concerns they have are defeated right then and there.

For example people are going to buy at a higher percentage with a face to face salesman then lets say a flyer in the mail. People usually read it and throw away, most times not even reading it at all.

Face to face is always a good route to go in any business you venture.

Also take IM for example. When you have a good converting sales video , usually you are in front of the camera pitching you product or service not a shitty slide show etc.

So glad I found this post! Congrats OP for seeing an opportunity and running with it. I'm actually surprised by some of the responses on here. While the job may not be totally glamorous, its not like you are walking around picking up poo with your bare hands lol.. Frankly I'd much rather pick up dog poo than to be trapped in a 9-5 office job. I've actually been thinking about starting a similar business in my area. Any advice you could give a noob would be very much appreciated.

Well since you revived this thread I'll give a small update.

I have already scaled into pet construction, fences, walks, houses etc.

I have all the dirty work being done by my 3 part-time employees currently.

So far I pretty much just sit at home collects checks and do IM in my spare time which is getting pretty good.

The best suggestion I can give you, is by you taking a look at my site.

Marketing is best done by classified ads and also door hangers in targeted areas.
