To everyone concerned about the site being down right now:
First of all, I'd just like to let everyone know that we'll be back up and open on the 8th (Saturday) and taking new orders.
I'd like to start off by saying that the last thing I want to do is turn business away. It would have been easier to disregard the expectations and needs of my customers and keep the site open in order to cash-in on the massive new surge of orders coming through. That would have been the easy thing to do, but not the right thing to do. I really do pride myself on offering business like dedication and professionalism mixed with a human touch that is rare to find in BST threads nowadays. The way I approach every order is with the mindset that I want to have 100% of my customers becoming return purchasers -every single one. Although that's impossible to happen, having that frame of mind isn't only the best thing from a purely business perspective but also serves as a great ethical guide toward making the right decisions for both myself and customers.
To break it down, I closed the site for 3 days for a two-fold reason;
1. We had a huge surge of orders during the past week that was beyond our capacity
2. We're also testing a new backend system out for our writers to make both my and their own work easier. Unfortunately some bugs did pop up that risked causing additional delays on top of the surge of new orders if the form wasn't closed down temporarily.
The bottomline is, had I kept the form open and allowed orders through, all of those customers would be facing significant delays and a possible drop in quality as our writers would face even more pressure due to the extra volume. Ask yourself these questions;
If you were the customer of that business, would you really be satisfied if you were able to place an order but met with a subpar experience afterwards consisting of delays and a drop in quality? Would that be a business you'd return to? What would that say about my business if I took your money knowing that I wouldn't be able to meet your expectations?
The answers to all those questions are what underlined my decision to close the order form for these 3 days.
Now contrary to what might be assumed, we weren't just lollygagging around during those 3 days that we were closed. On the contrary, both me and my writers have been working around the clock -processing, completing and returning orders and interviewing, training and hiring new writers to make sure we can open back up again stronger than ever.
As I actually vet writers (to validate their location and native language) and actually test and train them before allowing them to touch any of my customers orders, the process isn't as quick as it may seem. There is a lag time between an increase in demand from customers and my ability to meet that demand with more writers.
