Make 500$+ on every client! 20 mins to setup I made a success!

I dont think that they will buy your website for $500
It is not easy to sell it

You need social engineering and targeted client... Find a business man who needs a website that's all which does not have knowledge about word press..
 
I have never had any luck finding people to pay $1000+ for a site but then again I know it's possible because I have seen others do it. I tried to the free site model and making a commish on the hosting but got burned pretty bad. Dealing with cheap skates business is the WORST!

They have a brain of business man and they know how to use their money
they will use professional Website Design Services.
 
I have saw the web yesterday and now the link were removed.

And yes my opinion is similar as suggested above, you should provided a little more "quality work" if you charged $500 for real :P

Lincoln it's fashion dot com with the phrase uzzo at the front. Yes it's VERY ugly - the two things that killed me are the footer with the squished donald duck image (watch out for disney lawyers, disney loves to use stuff when copyright expires, donald duck's copyright is NOT fair use!), and the ring with the upside-down "diamond" in it.

Skypigeon you should definitely look for a different wordpress theme and tighten up your images and products - the about us page doesn't even have contact info back to you!

I've seen people charge $500 for a site that "was way worse....trust me!"

The site is not that bad (don't know why everyone is jumpin on the guy).

PROBLEM is...ppl (customers, clients, etc)---many of them, WANT A Beautiful Website for $100 bucks. See what's being advertised on CL. ....its a joke man! Nah...i got no problem with that site for $500 bucks (i mean i wouldN'T pay $500 bucks...but i know how to use WP). The customer got what they paid for. NOW the webdeveloper can start more customizing and charge them accordingly.

How much time did you put into that site?

No way you set that up the right way in 20 mins (i'd be willing to bet that). There's about 15 steps to getting a wordpress site up and running correctly (not including the design).

Unless you ripped it from another site?

Well then you're dealing with the wrong type of customer. If you are able to present yourself as a professional web developer who knows exactly how to get their brand out there and increase sales through their site, it doesn't matter how much you charge. If client starts bitching about the price, stop wasting your time and make clear what you offer, if they want it they can email you.

Any sensible businessman knows how much more lifetime revenue a good looking, professional website should generate. $100 for a website, that's like the site won't generate over $400 over a year or so. That's fucking ridiculous.
On the other hand, it also doesn't matter if you 'edit' a theme or build a custom PHP framework, as long as your client is happy and you have delivered what you should deliver.

Yeah but the truth of the matter is...that site is not that bad for $500. I've seen WAY WORSE for MORE MONEY!...Trust me. I've seen websites that the webdeveloper shouldn't have even gotten paid...but got $1500.

If you've been in the business...you seen that too. I'm not a professional Webguy...I can build them and have done brief stints building sites for cash.

I don't know this guy from Adam...but where i'm located (usa)....$500 bucks for a site is CHEAP. And Cheap Customers Get Cheap Sites.

$500 in the Philippines...that's another story.

Then again...this is a shopping Site with a Cart...so i would still think $500 is the top end of the range (in that country).

Because you said "this is not that bad", which it is. Just because there's other people doing much worse, doesn't mean it isn't crap.

Cheap customers get cheap sites; partially agreed. But delivering this to anyone shouldn't be acceptable.
 
I should start learning some basic web development and grab some opportunity there :D
 
At least it's not free. But in terms of this quality I would say that 500$ is not worth it at all.
 
Your first mistake was to post the website here, which is terrible IMO . Second, you charged $500 for a ecomm site(too low). And third, you called those clients noobs, but the only noob here is you .

Conclusion?

This is not the way to make business and more likely you end up being chased by angry 'noobs'.
