Crappy Links Removal

Hi,

There are a few seo firms that I know of that offer a "link removal" service.

I am guessing that they go into webmasters tools, download a list of backlinks for the specific site and then head over to [FONT=&amp]Google Disavow Tool and paste them in there.

Is that correct? Does it work? Has anybody actually done it?

Disavow tools work but if you read the sentence that "use it with caution" than you understand that you can also loose the ranking and authority..

if this is done for a site that has been hit by updates
and
you are careful removing only the crappy links

then it should work, right?

If you haven't received an "unnatural linking" notice I would NEVER use the link disavow procedure.
If you do get a UL notice then chances are you know exactly why and what links are causing it.In which case cut them ALL out. Every bad link

and that makes sense.
BUT:
if I have a site that totally tanked, what do I have to lose?

Then just Remove All Link and start the fresh.. only benefit is that you have the same domain name , you will loose all the authority and rank and everything..

that does not make sense actually

if a site has good and bad backlinks, the good links lift it up and give it authority
by removing the crappy links ONLY, you can only benefit and get the backbone support even stronger

I own a couple of older directories so I get requests from link removal services. All these companies do is send emails making an argument that you should remove a link from your site for free because the link is hurting you and the site that hired the link removal company. They send these emails to the registered domain owner. The emails have a link in them for you to click on when you have provided the the requested service. You can reply to these requests but you don't get any response; it appears to be all automated.

I just delete these requests. If site owners paid someone to do work for them, SEO that they now don't like, then they can pay me to remove them. I don't work for free. If they don't want to pay me, I don't care if they use the disavow tool.
