I've been maintaining a personal sexually explicit blog via blogger for over 4 years and I happened upon this place recently when trying to learn how I could monetize it. Right now I'm using Redtube because even though I have a small amount of visitors, they click on almost everything. That's okay for now, but I want to see if I can connect with other bloggers who have adult blogs. I'm not a professional IMer so please be gentle with the jargon.

Better buy hosting and a domain if your attached to your blog. As for the other questions, try to find traffic in other sources and drive that traffic to your blog. Hint..I might start with tumblr or something..

Good luck

I was thinking about that, but since this blog doesn't make enough money to cover hosting & domain fees I didn't see the point. I browse tumblr all the time and I think it is saturated with people just like me, all of whom have been at it longer than myself.

Best way to easily monetize anything adult is to get a VOD account. Run banner ads on your site pointing to your theater (or their niche landing pages). AEBN is the only company to bother with imho. I know some of their reps are around here somewhere. Accounts are free, they are 100% honest and reliable, lots of tools and content. You send visitors that like porn and you will make money. No BS

Hey JustMiss,

We'll talk more about it in PM. There's a lot of things to take into account but I have some good ideas that you may be able to implement onto your blog.

See what you did! Now I've spent the last hour or so searching for hosting and a domain! I stumbled upon something that I REALLY like and might actually purchase this evening.

If you have been running a blog for four years you should have loads of content, sounds like an exciting project to migrate and start building more traffic towards. I see sn0rt has chimed in, stick with him he knows what hes doing :) Make sure the host accepts adult content before paying for anything.

Adult dating 'Pay-Per-Lead' banners usually do well on my adult blogs, give it a shot :)

Also find a good webcam affiliate program. Most of the of the good ones will give a code to place some sort of live chat window on your site. If your surfers are clicking everywhere they would probably convert for live webcam. Try pussycash.

But like someone already suggested, get a real domain name and hosting. Blogger can delete your blog at any time. Do not forget to backup your content you have posted on blogger.

Do some live shows via Skype and elimenate the middle man with cam sites + create your OWN affiliate program for webmasters
Expand your tube site reach , why just Redtube? I use a tool I can turn you onto that will upload to 100's of tubes on autopilot.
Sell some panties (or anything else you can...)
CPM/adspace for sure
Get a mobile app. made for your site
Push more traffic from social networks (create SFW content)

The best money is the passive IMO. The pay model is dying. You must have content that is very alluring

Keep pushin!

I checked out all of your suggestions and I don't think any of that would work for my site, although I'm no expert. Right now I have the target links for all of the images (there are a lot) set to go to redtube. I enjoy the passive earning method. I tried Ashley Madison banners, Ifriends banners and even social sex banners, but none of them converted well, if at all. The only thing that seems to work is selling my traffic. I can't use plugrush because it is a blogger blog and juicyads was bizarre. I sent them a bunch of info after they wouldn't allow me to use my landline to verify my account and I haven't heard anything since. I was hoping to connect and network with other adult bloggers and exchange guest posts or create some sort of quid pro quo agreement. Possibly involving twitter as well. I've only recently reengaged my twitter followers on that account that I've had for just as long.

This blog and all of its raunchiness is mostly for my entertainment. Making money from it is only icing on the cake for me. I do appreciate everyone's input though.

Making serious money in adult is harder. You tend to need way more visitors than in other niches. You caught that quickly with how selling traffic tends to work out the best. That's right most of the time. Other cases are the exception. If you would get mad about losing the blog then get it off blogger as fast as you can. They often delete IM adult blogs. Get a domain somewhere when there is a $1 sale and pick up a Dreamhost account or something like it for $10-$20 a year. Once you do that plugrush will take you and that is one of your best bets really these days.

I totally agree with OldWhiteHAt

Host your own blog/site it's cheap and easy to do so without all of the headaches of web 2.0 blogs.
Use the web 2.0/social blogs to push traffic to your money site of course.

As for why you aren't making any or little money, it sounds to me that your niche is too broad and/or you haven't actually targeted well your target market. Thus, any and all banners/offers (at least 75% IMO) need to be geared towards your core visitors.

I don't know what your expectations are when you say "Making money from it is only icing on the cake for me." , but I can tell you for a fact that making $40-$100 a day min. passively is DEFINITELY possible.

I've done that with Tumblr blogs alone.

Here's a few tips.

Bottomline:

1. Fine tune your niche(s) and cater your ads/offers accordingly
2. Get your own site/hosting up
3. DO NOT entertain the idea that it is not possible for YOU to make $ with adult. Think like that and you will not. (between Juicy,PR,CRak , selling adspace on your site/blog there is NO excuse not to make even $25 a day... period)
4. If you dont have vids up on Tubesites, profiles on FB,YT,Twitter,Stumbleupon,Imgur and a host of others. You're not going all out. And course, if you're NOT going all out, what are you doing???
5. Scale! If you can make $25 a day on one site , (just attempting to illustrate a point) duplicate whatever you're doing and scale 10 more and so on.

I started redirecting users to offers from Youtube when i first started (as a TOTAL NOOB) in the first week I went from zero to $500 not even knowing what the hell I was doing and without an actual website. Hell, even when I finally created a 'website' (LOL!) it was the ugliest piece of shit you've ever seen! LOL!

Didn't matter though. You know why?
1. People were interested in what I was offering
2. I refused to believe I couldn't make money online... period. (*Most important of all)

It's ALL up to you.
MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I'm only using blogger and tweets. I hadn't even considered branching out because I feel like my content would just be redundant across all of the platforms. BUT! After reading your posts, I feel supremely motivated to kick my bum into gear and see what's out there!
