I have a quick question, you said when reblogging a photo, change the content source to your link. Is it also a good idea to put your link in the description or will the original page report it you think?

This method works and that's all there is to it.

I made a tumblr two days ago, just a generic adult niche to see how it would go. I did everything by hand.

Ive have 26 posts, I was picky with my content and only used stuff closely related to my blog/ aff link. I also used captions with a comedic edge to them, then set the image click through as my aff link, and also put the aff link in the caption.

Im following around 120 blogs, liked 200 posts, and have 21 followers.

When following people, I opened the notes on a specific post in my niche, and followed the people that reblogged it, figuring they would be more likely to reblog my posts.

up til 6 hours ago, I only had 13 uniques on my offer, I just logged in a minute ago, and ive had 50 more with a conversion.

So I made $2.50 today with this method.

I thought i would just update on how this has been going for me, i stopped doing it for a while, but i thought i'd give it another go, the tumblr i use has 720 followers, and is basically generating around 1000 clicks per night. But i feel that can increase as i've had some pictures get 6,000+ reblogs. I tried a few different methods of monetisation, and i'm currently using mylikes to see how much revenue i can get from it. I'm getting very high quality traffic now i'm just not totally sure on the best way to monetise what i have.

Right then, i appear to have hit a wall with this, i've got my tumblr blog back running again, gaining roughly 100 followers per day without following anyone, and generating around 1,000 clicks per day, using my redirect method, the problem i'm having is what to do with those links? I've tried Mylikes for the past couple of days, but despite saying i will get 0.015 per click, i got 1,000 clicks last night and received $1.28, they are an absolute joke. So i need to find a way to monetise this traffic since it is growing by the day. Does anyone have any ideas? One idea i had was to create a site myself, based on my niche, doing reviews for niche related clickbank products, maybe put some banner ads on the site as well, also maybe have some free ebooks there too using Adfly and PPD to monetise? Any thoughts would be great?

Im not sure what your niche is but you have the right idea - try and send the traffic to a page with a distinct call to action - See if you can at least get these users on your list or make then perform some action.

I personally use tumblr to send traffic to my site and for seo purposes but do know of hundreds making money of it. Experiment with the traffic and soon you will become a expert at monetizing

Well thanks man, i'd like to think i can monetise it because its growing everyday, this is the first time one of my experiments has actually worked lol As for my niche, obviously i can't say what it is but 98% of my traffic i'd say is female between the ages of 15-30, also one particular sub niche within that has emerged which i think i may be able to exploit more than the rest. It occurred to me as i'm writing this so i may have to investigate further
 
So i was just on tumblr queueing up some posts, and i've noticed that they've changed the layout ever so slightly, which isn't a problem, the issue, is that when i click to add my click throughs, the box pops up, but you can't type in it, and the moment you click it, it disappears... I've tried multiple browsers and account, and this problem is present in all of them... Is anyone else having this issue?
 
Ok I'm really confused, it seems that tumblr has changed and now you can't set a click through link, when I try to set it the field comes up but you cant select it or type anything, all you can set is the content source.

When I set the content source as my tumblr url, when someone reblogs my post sometimes when you click on the photo on their blog it clicks through to my blog, and sometimes it doesn't, not sure if i'm missing something here?

This also makes reblogging as a way to get links to an external site redundant as you cannot change the content source or click through link anymore.

Thank god i'm not the only one that got this, i'm not entirely sure what the problem is. I hope it's a glitch, because i can't understand why the option would still be there if it was something they were getting rid of. So my guess is it's a site bug they will hopefully fix, but they need to do it soon because currently it's ruining me...
 
After writing my previous post, i went onto tumblr, and huzzah! It's fixed, panic over
 
Yes It seems to working fine now! I just happened to start researching Tumblr on here when it happened lol. I had to go back and change all my posts to have my click through link but it works now, fyeah.
