Adding fake business to google places?

Anyone add multiple sites as businesses for Google local?
I have a bunch of city EMDs, and was wondering how risky it would be?
And how successful it could be?

It would have been easier to do that previously, I don't believe they even allow the option for phone verification, as I wasn't presented with this option when I tried it a couple of months ago. They sent a postcard to the physical address.

You need to verify based on a physical piece of mail sent to the address you enter into Google Places. So, this would not work.

You can get a mail box that's not a PO in different cities, I physically went to get one though. If you have to be there in person you can pay someone from that city to open it for you, I had someone offer me that before.

Or do you think having numerous businesses under the same address would flag it? Mind you strip malls have the same address just different units.

There are three blackhat ways to do this:

1. Using vacant lots
2. Using city center
3. Claiming closed business address

Vacant lots is tricky. You get the address, but if it gets sold and something is
developed then....game over.

Second option is you go to google maps and search for the city in question.
It will usually take you to what it considers the city center. There look for a 3 way intersection.
Since it's a 3 way intersection, one road will end in dead end. Click on the beginning of road and see
what address does google display.

It could be something like 200 blahblah street. As you keep moving up the street, it most likely will
increase like 240 blahblah, 260 blahblah. You get the point. Then you enter 180 blahblah street in search box.
Even though it doesn't exist, google will most likely still show this address.

Then use this address to setup the places page.

This is important step. You want to make sure you get phone verification.
Otherwise...it's all a waste.

Phone verification is getting pain in the ass. In order to get phone verification,
there are two steps:

Step 1. Build a lot of citations for the address and business on major websites like yelp, insiderpages, citysearch etc.
12-15 should be enough. Build backlinks to citations, get them indexed. This is good way to get phone verification.

Step 2. This is important. You want to add this address to google maps as a USER. One more time...as a USER.
Theory is, once it's added by a user, and google cross checks the citations, it will create unclaimed listing. Once that
unclaimed listing is claimed by you, hopefully you'll get phone verification because of this and citations.

This is how you do it. You login in to google as a user. Not the same account as the listing. Then go to maps.
Search for the phone number you're going to use. Get a hosted number if you can. Enter 000-000-0000.
Then look on your left, it will say "Add it to Google Maps". Then drag the map marker to the fake address you picked.
Fill out the necessary info just as you've filled out on different citations. This should create the listing for you in 1-2 days after review. Then you can claim it and hopefully phone verify it.

3. Closed businesses. This is obvious but If something new opens up then again all the work will go down
the drain.

Google might have changed the process, so above things might not work.

Also, I saw this guy on fiverr offering phone verification. This is not my gig.
Just a gig you might find helpful. fiverr dot com/marketingsage/create-a-new-google-places-listing-with-phone-verification-no-waiting. As of now...this gig is paused, but try contacting the seller.

There's a user on this forum by the name of CaptinAmerica.
I think he does places optimization, he might be able to help you with address and verification.

Finally...you can buy Google maps cash by Chad Kimball. He goes in very detail about the
steps I mentioned above.

Open a UPS box in the various cities (will look like a suite address rather than a PO). You will not be able to open multiple listings with the same address.

This used to work great in 2008. All you needed was voip numbers to verify and you didn't even had to have multiple domains, I used to do it with sub-domains, city.keyword.com. 24 hours #1 rankings for keywords like "new york car insurance" just because of EMD.

I don't believe this to be true. There was some guy on twitter going by the name "maptivists" or something. This guy is able to create a G Local / Maps literally anywhere. On a lake, in a river, he even stole a listing from the secret service and changed the name. I remember a few weeks ago a lot of people were talking about him.

And one thing I learned is that a lot of map spammers don't use physical addresses to verify. They choose the phone option to verify. So you pick a random address, buy a call fire number, phone verify, then you own the listing.

This begs the question.... do you actually need a physical address to verify a listing or just a phone? And how are these map spammers spamming dozens of fake listings without having access to the addresses?

Thats why I plan on testing this out myself. I'm going to try verifying 3 listings of random addresses just using the phone, because I honestly don't think you need access to a real address.

Yes and he was a big reason its so difficult now. After he stole the secret service and another LE agency's listsings and replaced them with his # he went to law enforcement, the press and Google. This looked bad so now verification is much harder.

Verification is only one problem, your competitors will turn in a fake intruder on their turf faster than you can build them.

I go thru maps once a month and report all these for all my customers niches as a matter of course.

Phone verification has been removed by Google the only option to add your business is to use the other method which is Postcard Verification..
