Private or Public Whois?

Anyone know if SERPs don't like sites with private whois, because apparently the site don't is transparent with your informations.
Because reading this post http://backlinko.com/google-trustrank in the Step 3, he talk about use or not private whois.
Tell us, if you have private networks, you utilize private whois too?
Have any problem in indexing or penalization in your position?

What's more trustworthy, a website with no contact information and a private WHOIS, or a website with a physical address that matches their WHOIS registered address (if possible)? I use privacy for IM sites, and public for local business websites ad new stuff I am still messing with, and my authority site.

Mix of both. Another factor is whois history. If you were already registered with real info, it does not make sense to add privacy since your ownership has become public record. If you get privacy it needs to be from beginning. However, I am more and more looking into starting an umbrella company just to register and hold domains for real privacy.

For me, I just use fake info. Once godaddy asked me on why the difference, I just told him to F#%K off. Hahahaha, joking, I just told them that I am a local webmaster doing website stuff for my area ppl. This is where I doing greyhat stuff. For blackhat, I simply use namecheap as it got a year free whois privacy. I think one year is enough as most of my blackhat sites earned and mostly they dont stay on page one for a year.

Depends. If you have your physical address on your site then you can have the same on your domain registar info. No need to protect. If you don't mention physical address on your site, its good to have who is protection.

@edyang, visit matt cutts domain name he protected with who is. If he made his address and phone numbers public he would have got hell lot of problems. Not saying what MC does we need to follow just giving you an example.

Understood, but Matt Cutts doesn't need the boost from trustworthiness. He already has it. We are not on the level of a Matt Cutts though in terms of fame or trust from Google's point of view.

Not everyone who disagrees with you is a retard, just sayin'. Brian Dean's blog is highly respected and vouched for by Neil Patel of Quick Sprout. Or is he a retard as well?

This is not a hard and fast rule, it's just one factor out of many that may impact Google's ranking.
