is higher alexa rank or lower better?

my site with the most traffic is ranked 1,500,000
my site with averageish traffic is ranked 500,000

im pretty sure lower is better as in #1 is the highest ranked site i just dont understand how my middle sight is ranked the highest.

Are they in the same niche? Perhaps one niche caters to a demographic that is more likely to install the A1exa T00lbar?

i never really SEO optimized any of my sites.
the 1mil+ site gets 5k daily uniques and the 500k ranked site gets 100 uniques.
oh well time will tell if it balances out.

Alexa rank is based off of unique Alexa toolbar visitors... not just hits alone... which site gets more daily unique visitors?

the lower ranked site gets 2k uniques daily on its worst day and is averaging 5k for feb.

so if my 100 uniques daily browse the site it would be ranked higher than the 5k uniques that hit the download page and leave?

Alexa is often highly inaccurate. While Alexa is a good overall bench mark it's told me that sites of mine that get several thousand uniques a week are getting millions of unique visitors with astronomical growth rates. While I wish this were true it's flat out wrong.

im not using alexa to view my actual traffic im just trying to get higher rankings for resale value.

i just couldnt understand why 100 uniques daily was ranked higher than 5000 uniques.
but since the 5000 uniques dont browse the site they just download then leave it makes more sense now.

... If your looking to jackup the resell value then use autosurf traffic. Makes your stats look great as long as no one pays attention to the source... Though a BHW member recently posted on how to direct page to a particular yahoo url that will make all traffic sent to it look like a organic search traffic.

Alexa rank is indication of traffic. Higher the rank is better. Alexa rank may not accurate for low traffic sites but still webmaster refer it as traffic measurement.
