Authority over micro, my journey creating authority websites

Using EMDs and currently I have 4 websites up (animals, clothing, outdoors and religion). Main thing you need to think about is that you need keywords with commercial interest else you're not going to get your ads clicked / product sold.

That's true. You can use spyfu to check CTR of the keyword you target.

Wow, it's been awhile. But do not fret, I've been active in updating the websites!

Website 1 - 28 articles / 80 UV daily
Website 2 - 22 articles / 45 UV daily
Website 3 - 25 articles / 120 UV daily

Those are the current statistics. But, what happened during penguin 2.0? I did in fact, couple of weeks ago, buy some spam backlinks from my favourite linkprovider - I've had good results before so I thought I'd give it a try. Do note that the backlinks I bought (5k spread out properly with anchor text, inner pages etc) are do-follow 1+ PR guaranteed links, not 100k shitty nofollow links on spammed pages.

But yeah, penguin 2.0 happened. And .. I'm surprised. I was expecting to get hit, at least on one of my websites but it seems like every single keyword I had jumped up. (i.e. stable #8-15's jumped up to #1 or #2) which doubled/tripled my traffic overnight. Yay Google!

But I build my websites with not too many advertisements, solid articles and a lot of focus on social media (facebook, twitter, stumble accounts for every website). It's going well so to speak

Earnings has gone up as well, from roughly 1$ USD total for all two websites / per day to 10$ USD daily - that is huge. My biggest website yet hasn't even been monetized! (Third one)

I think the reason why I wasn't penalized was due to
1) Quality over quantity.
2) Regular updates to the website.
3) Social media presence.

But you never know. (;

Hey man I'm doing similar to you, making a kinda mini authority. I have around 13 or so articles but have kept my site in maintenance mode for now because I only want to launch when I have a nice amount of articles so google treats my site with more respect. How many articles did your site have when you launched? Also could you tell me what theme your using on the site in your picture on previous post. I'm not liking the theme I have, pretty crap lol

There's a lot of themes to choose from really and I'm not qualified enough to say which is the best. I'm a fan of HeatMap, though.
I make sure that I have at least 5 articles before I start then try to build a steady 1 article / week.

Sorry for the late response! My rankings are steady at #1~3 on all of my websites, earnings roughly ~25$ daily from 5 websites, still got 2 more to launch.

It differs, depends on the niche really. One of my websites got a 4$ CPC keyword with only 20 UVs daily while my other one has a 0.75$ CPC keyword but 700 UV daily.

Social signals? Just do it. The first week at all was just creating social profiles and filling them with real information, tips and treats. People tend to follow after that.

Been awhile yet again. Currently working on 5 websites in total with one bringing in about 30$/day alone. Current focus is to reach out to the visitors i.e. newsletters, discussions etc. I believe I'm going to scrap one of the websites, it never took off despite adding ~20 articles to it. But who knows, just keeping it up doesn't cost me anything.

From what I noticed, when taking a simple topic i.e. dog training it's quite simple to turn it to an all-around authority website focusing on animal training in general. I took one of my 5$/day websites to 30$/day by just writing about another topic (general area).

I guess I'm a bit slow, do you reach out to people on twitter and tweet at them? How do you bootstrap followers from nothing?
