Page 1, #3 on Google, but no traffic

I've been running this website for a while and I'm finally on page 1, in third place (just checked it now; still there even after Penguin 2.0) According to the Adwords keyword tool, my main keyword has:
4,400 Global Monthly Searches
2,400 Local Monthly Searches

Still, my traffic is in the single digits. That's right, not even TEN visitors per day.

Can anyone think of why this might be? My content typically converts well when people actually click and read it, but for some reason nobody is.

It's possible that the listings are not the same for everyone. From when do you experience this? Is this a recent boost in rankings?

It was very gradual... I remember when it broke into page one, very last position. It was a few months ago. Now it's #3. But still no traffic.

My meta description just says something like "[website] reviews the most popular [niche products] and lets you know which ones are worth the money."

The listings are different depending where you are located. Also that keyword probably doesn't get any searches, you probably had broad search turned on instead of exact when you were using the keyword tool. Check it out again, I guarantee you it's a dead term with no searches.

check the keyword using google trends. could be that there used to be a lot of searches and now there aren't. I always cross check every keyword I am looking into. Its very important.

Give me a low search volume keyword with a sharp rising trend graph over a high volume keyword on the way down any day.

That is very true when you set the google keyword to broad to over a million searches per month for curtain keywords but when you change the settings from broad to exact or phrase is it less than a thousand searches per month.

Also, clear your cookies, delete Internet cache, log out of Google, use a different browser - in order to get an accurate ranking check.

#1 average CTR is 36.4% = 28 visits/day
#2 average CTR is 12.5% = 9 visits/day
#3 average CTR is 9.5% = 7 visits/day

^ Yup that is correct, it's pretty much a huge decrease of CTR from the #1 position, which is to be expected obviously

First of all 3rd position won't get you that much traffic anyways, and second if that is exact searches

Also try using proxies or different ip's and see if the rankings are same..!

If you are ranked for "websitebame something" e.g. "clickbank faq", than will be norma to not get traffic even the site is #2, because searchers will click on clickbank official site and then will read the faq.

This is old stats (now have new tricks plus improved schemaorg), but still near to recent.
