Buying a domain forever?

I would like to buy a domain for ever! I dont want the hassle of renewing, how is this possible if wherever I look it gives a yearly charge?

I think that the longest period of time I've ever seen a domain registrar offer is 10 years. You would pay an enormous amount of money to get domain registration for life. Why would you want to do that when you haven't even made money off of a site yet? I'd rather take a few minutes out of my day to log into paypal and pay the fee than pay a bunch of money for a site that could be deindexed from Google in six months, or hacked, or any number of other things.

I have seen sites offering upto 10 years registration in a go. I dont think you will be able to get it registered for forever in a go.

You can simply register the domain for 10 years and have it on auto renew

However you should really be confident in making such a purchase as things nowaday change pretty fast and such a long term investment for a regular IM website is just not worth it

Its not really cheap, I renew my domains with $9 yearly - x 5 years = 45$. And at another registrar with $7.49 using promo codes.

That's not actually that cheap, shop around... you can get domains for much cheaper than $9 or $10 a domain!

First time I see someone complaining about taking 5 minutes each year to login and pay for another year renewal.

You won't make it in IM, don't bother.

try going to godaddy and im pretty sure you can register domain for like 25 years or some like that?
