Just started a website which is a couple of months old. Starting to build links slowly. I am not in the top 100 in google for any of my keywords, but top 3 in Bing/Yahoo. Why is this? Penalty? or just Google just take time to evaluate your site?

Google's algo is different than Yahoo/Bing. Results will differ.
Keep building quality links.

Bing allows a lot of spam or auto approve blog links as good links.
But bing and yahoo are getting good though.

True.... but typically google is way way quicker in finding your site, indexing your pages, finding your backlinks etc etc etc. If none of your keywords that you should be ranking for are in the top 100 yes, you are most likely having sandbox/penalty issues. 2 months is more than enough time for your site to be fully assimilated into googles rankings. Did you buy this as an expired domain? Have you checked through all your backlinks.... has someone targeted you for neg seo? What kind of links have you been building?

You can get to the first page of Yahoo\Bing by building mass backlinks - Xrumer\SB\Wiki spam, etc but not with Google. These techniques usually get you penalized pretty badly on Google but are quite effective on other SEs. Hopefully that gives you some insight.

I find it easier to rank in G quickly. Ie if I have an optimised site and I build links I can guarantee it will be in the first few pages of Google within a week. Bing not so much, I do find it takes me time to get noticed there....although once you are in its unlikely it will drop out in a hurry.

I would be worried if I wasnt listed in the top 100 of Google. Are you sure your site is optimised for the keywords you are aiming for ?

Is that emd domain, like yourkeyword.com ?

No Emd domain. But optimized, as used by webmaster tools etc. I essentially did no link building to get into bing/yahoo, but startin buildin links (High PR web 2.0) but nothing yet.

The guy who suggested the spam link stuff is correct about bing, as the site in no.1 in bing, as nowhere in google too.

Is there a way to find out if a site has a penalty?

I did buy the domain from TDAM.

Try to check if you ever appear in SERPs, you should do, if you don't in TOP 500 then it's a red flag for Google rankings

Bing bring almost no traffic. Only old people use it because of IE. It is probably a penalty.
