Hi
I dont know if you remember my last thread. I was talking about raising the fees on my lawyer client. and I was being a pussy and wasn't sure if i should do it.

well, I grew some balls and sent him the email on Monday. Although he usually responds to emails within 5 minutes, he did not respond to that email.
so I waited and waited, and he did not respond. I finally called him on Thursday and asked him if he was interested in continuing. He said something like "we are really fucked" and I said "what do you mean?" he said "just come in, we will talk"
I said "ok, but are you willing to pay the higher fee?"
he said "just come in"

so today I am supposed to go in. I really dont want to haggle, what do you think he wants to say? and can you provide me with some "tools" to fight back?
I hope I don't give in. although I know i will :(

Are you sure this guy is even a lawyer ?

Any lawyers I know are too busy making $300 minimum an hour to be playing bullshit with an seo guy for for a few quid.

His time is precious ? well then so is yours...Dont be dropping everything to run in like a lapdog and listen to his bull shit. You have a proven track record in producing a site that gets traffic for the legal profession, start working on selling that to new clients.

Hi guys
so today I went to his office and guess what? he was not there. door was locked.
This is the second time he has done this. The first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt "maybe he forgot"
his payment was due on the 10th and he has been giving me the runaround. he wants free advertising, which is not something I offer.
I am tired of being his bitch. what should I do? should I send him a nasty email, or should I just take off the site without notice? I want him to start chasing me and I want him to beg me to take his money.

There's obviously something going on. Either the lawyer hasn't got the money, or he doesn't intend to pay you even if he does have the money. You HAVE been "his bitch" and now it's time to admit it to yourself, feel the full impact of what that means, accept it, and then move on.

The world is fucking LOUSY with lawyers.

shut it down until further payment.I learned the hard way, dont ever undersell yourself, the worst they can say is NO.

only reading what you have in this thread. him telling you that "we are fucked", would mean, his company
is screwed, and he won't be able to pay you for the final services. Or did he say "We" in a tone that sounded like it meant you and him?
he may just not have the money to pay you for the site. and has run out of capital.

I dont know...he doesn't always mean what he says, he just blurbs out random bullshit. I dont think it means anything.

Find another Lawyer, preferably in the same region as Lawyer 1, and see if its possible to at least get one or 2 interested in YOUR services (this is geared a bit towards SEO or other high valued service :p ). Then return to this guy and tell him that you will discontinue work on his site and reallocate your time/resources that you would have used on him, on the new lawyer clients who are about to replace him. Ofcourse, no matter if you lose lawyer 1 or not, seal the deal on the other 1-2 lawyers! :p

This way, he will notice that not only do you have the power to help him (and he could treat you like a bitch), you also have the power to help his enemy/hurt him. And maybe then he will give you a bit more respect. I don't have any "recurring fee" clients, but I try to give off the image that I am a professional, I work alone, I'm busy taking care of business, nice and courteous, and that I don't have time for BS.

I know that if the lawyer was my only client or if I had very few, I would try to find some middle ground and be fast, precise, and clear about it. If you have an abundance of clients, I would send them a final notice e-mail/snail-mail and don't waste your time with them. (Or take whatever actions that you expressed in your contract.)

Huh....?

LOL...send him a bill for a no show.

AND cut him off....NOW. Truthfully, you should have never even agreed to go to his office. Its yes or no on the phone. The truth seems to be, you don't have enough SEO clients. Cut this jerk-off clean out of your life.

There's no shortage of Lawyers out there...LOL. Just tell him, you've decided to work with one of his competitors in the the neighborhood. That ougtha get his goat!

should I send him a nasty email, or should I just take off the site without notice?

In the right state of mind, no one should do that .

Don't forget he is a lawyer.

Whatever you do, do it in a proper and dignified manner.

Just send him a polite email notice that as he has not paid for your services, you will no longer me providing him your services.

Give him some time to reply.

After 8-15 days, send him a a second mail.

If you don't get a reply, you can discontinue whatever services you are offering him.

just stop the SEOin your doing for him just like "isnotcomplete" said he probably ran out of money to pay you. and i think your scared that you don't have another other clients to fall back on but dont worry about that if you found this guy you surely can find other clients. and instead of doing his seo for free you could be doing it for free for some other potential clients . just hit up that phone book and look for some other lawyers
