(Hackers) How Security Compass 'Stole' $14 Million from a Bank

Is this a black hat method? Can anyone do this. If so I'm in.

By the looks of it you wouldn't get very far...

It's not blackhat, it's illegal, and even if someone here knew how to do this, what use would you be to them? lol

The only reason you heard about this is it didn't work

The easier way:
1) Create an offshore bank account.
2) Apply for a job at a local bank as a teller.
3) Accept the job.
4) Work for a few months to see how the system is working, collect data.
5) Develop a software that will transfer money from other accounts to your offshore account(use your own account and money for testing)
6) Set the application to execute with a delay.
7) Buy a plain ticket and leave the country.
8) Go to jail.
DONE.

PS: I missed the step where you withdraw the money. The FEDs will be waiting for you to make your withdraw and then you'll go to jail.

You probably will never hear about the ones that were successful. I'm sure they wouldn't want to publicize it. Then again they might know everything everybody does. Or it could be a security software company that will make a vulnerability to charge more for an upgrade.

The only reason you heard about this is it didn't work

If you read the article, it did work. The reason why the person didnt get $14 million is because he (the company) was hired to hack the bank. Would it not seem suspicious if a bank hired a security company to find flaws then a few days later several million go missing?
Had it been a malicious person who gained access (such as in the $45 million heist) then the bank could have been cleared out.


I wouldn't exactly say this is news worthy :|

The central banks do that, then lend the money to the normal banks for interest.
