It seems that it was going to happen eventualy, they have printed the first 3D Plastic Gun ...

Now this is going to be very difficult to stop, these guns can't be detected by metal detectors! Scary!! The blueprints are still available on pirat bay, and kimdotcom asked his crew to delete the public files on mega.
 
It sucks, anyone can make a ar15 or ak47 if they just get a home forge, and a decent drill press. Until 3D printing can beat that than its not impressive enough.

So true.... but its not the point

to make a AR15 like you said you need a certain amount of skill, a 3 year old could not do it if you see what i mean and who the hell owns a forge.

The 3d printed AR15's are getting 600 shots before they break and you have to keep in mind this is a weak material, maybe in 3/4 years time we will find a printable material with the same strength as the polymer they use on a glock or other synthetic AR15's

they are not making good guns, they are making a political point.

that is the worst looking gun i have ever saw, it almost reminds me of the toy guns I had when I was a kid.

My thoughts exactly.... But do they try to detect metal objects that small? Never been to a secure area before in my life so wouldn't know.

Not sure but they do fire real bullets...

A plastic gun made in a 3D printer fired real bullets during demonstrations over the weekend. Texas-based Defense Distributed has just made the blueprints for the gun available free so it can be replicated by others in their own 3D printers.

I'm sure it would be detected in a back scatter x-ray. Airports don't just check for metal anymore.

Also, it only holds one round and I'm willing to bet it's not very accurate. Someone can do just as much damage with any sharp/blunt object.

They didn't make a gun, they made a lower receiver (casing and gearing) and hicap magazine (high capacity) for an m4a1. There's a documentary about it on youtube, some dude in Texas did it.

The point was to prove that even if you restrict gun capabilities ROF (rate of fire) and magazine capacity, there will still be workarounds for this restriction. If you want to do it, there will be ways.

For further notice, the only part of a rifle that is illegal to own without license is the lower receiver (in the US) that holds the gearing, firing pin, trigger, shimming, etc.. That part has a serial number that is registered. You can order anything else online (without age restrictions): casing, barrel, stock, magazines, etc.

As for the "plastic gun" on 3ders.org, that allegedly "fires" .38 cal bullets is a joke. If you fire a bullet with that piece of shit it will blow up in your hand, that's if it even fires at all. That plastic hammer won't have enough punch to set off the primer. You'd need a metal pin or a super strong spring, that will trigger the metal detectors. Guaranteed.

And even if it fired, that small plastic barrel won't contain the pressure generated by the expanding gasses in the bullet casing, and the gun will shatter in your hand, killing you or probably mutilating you for life.

That guy in Texas I wrote about above did about 2 years testing and perfecting the plastic lower receiver just to make it fire 600 bullets without breaking.

So yeah, 3D gun printing is not really a threat (not until we'll get access to super strong polymers that have the same characteristics as steel, if that's even possible...).

So, why not get a ceramic Glock if you want it to pass metal detectors?!

But as stated above, it won't beat the black scatter x-ray..

You dont need to have a license for owning a firearm in the U.S., as long as its not full-automatic.

This is just the first generation of the 3D technology. The most difficult part (printing a device that can fire at all) has already been accomplished. The use of heavier polymers and plastic bullets will come along soon enough. Certainly the government is not taking the projected growth of the 3D printer lightly, and is looking at ways to regulate or prosecute the technology.

But you can't stop the signal. More and more inventions that empower the public independent of the state are being distributed to the world on a peer basis (blueprints and manuals on torrents, money through Bitcoin, and the like). It's NOT scary, it's the "government should be afraid of its people" healthy principle of keeping things free. The more guns are distributed among the people, the more monopoly government power is held in check.
 
The politics regarding these 3d guns is gonna get out of control.However as humans, we always seem to have a yin to the yang when it comes to these types of situations

Couldn't you just spend the money on gym memberships,supplements,tanning etc. to get ripped then audition for a porn movie? It seems better then wasting alot of money on one of those real dolls that can cost as much as $6,000.
 
I've been watching this guy for a while, I first heard about him a few months ago. He actually has a pretty cool thing going on here.
