This is a journey that already has began. It's mainly for my own reference, and hopefully can bring some helpful tips to some bhw members.
I have had adsense experience for 5-6 years. And now focusing on one site only.
It is a user generated content site. It's basically an online art platform for artists to showcase their work, portfolio etc. Site has been custom built for months.
Currently stats:
Artists: 696
Uploads: 916
Facebook fans: 23.5k
Twitter followers: 11.5k
Visitors sitting around 1-2k a day.
95% of the traffic are from English speaking countries US,UK, Canada,Australia etc so the cpc is pretty good. The ads/site has not been optimized yet so ctr is pretty terrible. But I am not worried about that for now. Once the traffic gets to 5k-10k I will deal with them. Most important things is to keep artists interested using the site, create more interaction, which is frankly very lacking atm. Many just come upload and doesn't "favourite" "comment" much. Need to make some changes on that. Since initially I didn't want to make the site feel like a "popular contest". But I realised now more interaction within the community is needed.
Also I contacted a law firm that specialises in copyright law in art. Asking them if some kind of arrangement can be made with our growing artists community. One of the reason I made the site is because there are too many art theft, copyright infringement on the internet. And people just steal amazing artwork/images and get away with it. Will see how this works out.
Site still being developed and improved everyday. There will be a series of features that will be implement that should skyrocket the traffic to stable 10k a day within the next 2-3 weeks.
