Ethernet on my desktop crashes alot?

Every so many days the Ethernet connection on my desktop crashes, and I have to disable and then re-enable it. Is there any permanent fix to this,it gets annoying when I'm working on something on my desktop though rdp and then it crashes. Especially when I'm not home, cause I have to wait until I get back to reset it.

try and install a new driver. or try to update your bios . that sometimes helps.

Check Event Viewer for chronic and/or significant errors & complaints.
Check Device Manager. Enable "show hidden devices" and report any flagged devices.

I fixed the solution by changing my os from Windows 7 64bit to Pear Linux 64 bit.

Kind of a drastic fix! Well, as long as you're happy.

After switching to pear os I found it to be useless and eventually switched back to windows 7 64 bit ultimate, and just dealt with the several times a week crashes.

I just found out that the reason it probably was crashing was because the driver in it was from 2008 :doh:, I just updated it to the latest update. Now I just need to figure out how to use the full speed of my laptop's wifi.

Im not totally sure that was the problem but since I now have the driver for windows 7 64 bit it may have fixed it, ill find out within in the next couple of days if it worked or not.

Drivers can be funny at times. A while ago I had the exact same issue with a fairly new 64 bit Win7 HP desktop. I was puzzled as I had installed the latest driver provided by HP and although the WiFi would connect it would crash fairly often and the signal would be very weak. I decided to remove the driver completely and let Windows install its own WiFi drivers. Haven't had an issue since.

I also fixed the solution to my slow wifi speeds. My laptop was only getting 58Mbps per second on the wifi, but I was testing various settings on my wifi router and after turning off the setting of having 20Mhz/40Mhz coexisting it bumped it up to 120Mbps. I was planning on getting a long ethernet cable, to boost it up to 100Mbps but I'm glad I found out since its faster than my Ethernet.

It looks like that fixed it, Its been connected for 46 hours straight so far and sent 43GB of Data and received 52GB of data though it.

It didn't solve the issue after around 98 hours online, 72GB uploaded and 114GB downloaded, it finally crashed. I probably going to need to get a new desktop soon, so I can keep it up for weeks at a time.
