Footprints & hiding IP

I have read threads on both and understand each concept individually, but I have never found great explanation of when to hide IP so as to not leave footprints.

How many sites (web 2.0 etc) record IP and how many would share that?

and yes, we want to know the reason why hide ip must be used? besides, i guess that to have footprints and hiding IP is only the few things that's been challenging so much on the side of a link-builder.

well, you need proxies to hide your IP, and the reason you would hide your IP, is so the sites your posting links on, won't see that you've posted so many links. If you use different IP's they will not know that you posted all of the links.

Yeah, what fjones5757 told is exact,, hide ip must be used to hide your identity in online. whatever work you do in online,your ip will get registered. doing multiple works on same ip will no favor you, so to hide your identity you will be in need to use hide ip.

It's not just IPs you usually need to hide, also cookies, LSOs (flash cookies), cache (DOM and browser) and I'm sure I missed something. Look at firegloves, better privacy, and ccleaner. Also, think that socks proxies work better than http proxies.

thanks for all the enlightenment you have shared. actually, i have a little idea about it. i just want to confirm that what's in my mind or what i'm thinking is also the right thing. thanks really. by the way, hope it's alright to ask it in here if their are also ways how to do it? i mean can it be easily configure on my computer or the settings be change? besides, are their any third party free software that we can possibly use.
