Paypal negative balance

I had an account go $1K in the neg thanks to an old client claiming his card was stolen... paypal caught wind of it and reversed all of the recent payments he sent, completely screwing me. I left the account (no bank accounts attached) and they eventually sent the amount to a collections agency and reported it to the credit agencies.

In short, they will try to collect the money.

With so many PayPal horror stories like this, I'm surprised so many people are so devoted to the service.

There is no way they can, the data protection laws for this in the uk are tight as. you just won't be able to use those bank details for another account ever again.

Just speak to your bank, and say that someone got your account details, and you need a new one setup. Or you can use irish savings accounts, which normally let you pay straight into them, and have instant sort code and account details when you register online.

Close your bank account, so they don't try to chargeback into your overdrafts, (different depending on the bank) and get a new setup, and expect to receive the claims letters to your paypal address. Impossible that they can get you via your bank account, totally impossible. They never got me, and this happened so many times. (12+)

Thank you! thought this was the case, of course if they take you to court then they could.

Also, with these irish savings, do you need to set these up with real info?

I already explained how i did it but it was rightfully removed by oldsalt

I did not breech data protection. Look up 'doxxing' and 'social engineering'

No, (they still send out 1 letter verification though) but It doesn't matter mate, i had 10 irish savings all on the go, bumping cash from amazon, and never had a problem with my real details. But they have limits on the number of in and out transactions so its best to use them only temp.

You won't go to court. I done close to 10k and only ever got debt agency letters. In the uk if you don't answer a debt letter for 5 years, they write it off usually.

You won't be breaching dp, but the person who gives you the details is.

If there was a better competitor, paypal would have no customers.

so you want to commit identity theft/fraud.

Yeah, i just stuck with irish post office accounts, and for my name i can't remember if i kept it the same or mispelt it (i'm dislecsik), but just do a real one, as a test, and see how you get on.

PAY THAT SHIZ ASAP. They send it to a collection agency and if it isn't paid within 90 days it messes up your credit

someone got into my paypal and frauded me out -$12,000 called paypal and they fixed me up. Call em up and act pissed.

for the most part they dont screw the consumer/buyer this is how they stay in the game, they have become a common name, people like to pay with paypal so for the seller you have 2 options, accept paypal and all the bs that comes with it, or dont accept and possibly lose a percentage of sales.
