Link Building: .EDU and .GOV

I've heard many stories, and a lot of different products about .GOV and .EDU links.

Where has Google actually said that they give priority to those kind of links?

Google would increase a barrage of spam to edu/gov domains if they ever publicly mentioned any priority to those links. I would just focus getting any links you can get your hands on.

HAHA see thats exactly what I meant, omnipotent$ they HAVENT mentioned it anywhere is it just a sham?

I don't think having a .edu or .gov site is that much better than any other .com link.

Logically they should have more power because it is much tougher to get a link from these domains. There is far fewer of them out there and not every joe can grab one. if you look at almost any gov or edu domain they have very high PR and domain authority. They receive a lot of natural linking as well. Whether or not the domain extension is important, the domains themselves are usually very strong.

Yeah I agree it could just be spam to the search engines unless you get a legit mention on one of those sites.
Avoid blog comments and things like that as that is not the best way to get links. Trade links for best results.

That makes more sense to me, so the EDU and GOV websites are generally higher and have better PR.
But having that specific extension in itself does not have any "special" link juice!

How about lower PR ones?

I think I'm one of the few SEO's that have never used an edu link before. Been thinking about trying it out.
