Bought a VPS How can I use it?

I just bought my first VPS from https://waveride.at/

I can connect through the SSH, but I have no idea how to turn it into a 'Virtual machine'.

I want to be able to go on web and browse.

Could anyone help me out setup this, or simple tell me how to do?

Open up "Remote Desktop Connection" on your computer (If you're using Windows), insert the IP to your VPS and fill in the credentials. Done. :)
 
Is it a Linux server or is it a Windows server?
EDIT : By the way, go to https://waveride.at/plans and look at the "last Catch"... You have chosen the wrong provider lol

in That case use puTTY..
You should not have bought a un-managed server if you are not familiar with it...

A VPS is a "Virtual private sever" Honestly if you have no idea what you're doing you should of stayed with shared hosting or went for a fully managed provider.

You will need to use Putty to manage it.
 
Oh forgot to mention, trying logging in via SSH and installing webmin . It will make your job easier because you can create the zone files etc using GUI.. if you have centOS then try : yum install webmin
 
:)) ... I have a small dilemma ... if you don't know what you do ... ( or what's supposed to do ) with the vps ... why did you bought it ?

ps. If you wanted to connect to the vps , and use it to '' browse the internet '' :) you can do same thing from your computer you don't need a vps for this ... and you need a proper OS installed ( in this case will be any windows version available @ the provider ) .
Usually unix/linux OS versions are sold/rented for webhosting , and ... since it's seems you don't know what to do and why ... will be bit hard for ya to read and learn everything on '' how to install and how to manage '' .
There are some linux versions for vmware ( and you can create virtual boxes / virtual windows ) but they will move pretty bad & they are pretty hard to install lol .
 
If its an unmanaged Linux server then you need to install an OS first like centos or ubuntu. If you are new to Linux server management then you better get a windows server.

My goal is to run some scripts such as vagex, they offer linux.

If I could reformulate my whole thread it would be : how can I install a OS on a VPS. I made an error buying it but now I need to get over it.
 
Hey didn't they provide you a VPS panel or something?
