Keyword confusion

This might be a noob question.. But I'm a little confused about keyword density, and hoping some of the experts here can help me understand. Lets say I have a cookie company called "cookie creations" and my target keyword is "sacramento cookies." If I have 1000 words on my page, and have used the keyword "sacramento cookies" 20 times, and used the name of my company "cookie creations" 20 times, am I over the density amount since cookie is in my company name and also my keyword?

It's basically how many times your keyword appears per however many words. And then calculated to a percent

Keywords density is useless, dont pay attention to such stupid parameter. Write relevant content for your audience, include your relevant keys in the title (to lure more users coming from serps), headings, and that's it

Just write dude. I don't count keywords or anything in my articles. Let them come naturally. Google knows what to rank you for.

Yep, you dont have to worry about keyword density since Penguin. Its all about co-occurring phrases in your content now.

While keyword density may not matter as much as it once used to, you still need to make sure your keywords appear in the text.

The only time keyword-density becomes important is where it's too high...

Write naturally as most people have said above, and avoid keyword-stuffing to try and hit some artificial density target.

I do review keyword density on 'problem' client sites though, as high densities can cause ranking problems; they're essentially a negative factor because they look stuffed and unnatural. If a client has gone mad with keywords, then it needs to be reduced and rewritten to be more natural.

I always think that you need you keyword somewhere in the URL, in an <h1> and a few times in the body of the article. Any more then that is overkill.

Search engines use advanced algorithms that relies on relevance rather than keyword density. So you need to write it as relevant as possible.

I wouldn't worry about it to much just make sure the keywords are in your h tags and title tags

if you wanna rank for sacramento, repeating it with the word cookies 20 times isn't helping. Find some other clever way.

Yes, it will affect the keyword density in a negative way.

While I do not stress over keyword density in most cases, I do look at my finished page and try to get it down below 3 %. unless it damages the article.

Readibility matters more than KWD, but that does not mean that KWD is not a factor.

Keep it simple my friend. Just have the keyword you want to target at least once on your page and let google take care of the rest.
