Rank Ecommerce Site

I have a friend who has had a website professionally designed for her but the main page has practically no content on it. Mainly images with the only real text being the menus etc.

Theres no where to put any content really without totally ruining the look on the site so how would we go about ranking this site?

Are we best link building to inner pages with content, for example on category pages and individual product pages? Would that boost the rankings for the site on the whole?

Any advice would be appreciated

I generally use Tabs. This way i can hide content so it doesn't ruin the look, but i can add as much content as i want.

For example i might have a couple of sentences then something that says "More info Click Here"

Then once you click, all your content pops out.

Just create text with font size really small (1px) and use many <small> tags.
Also make sure that font size looks alike with your background color and you good to go.

are we talking about keyword stuffing, small text with the same color as the background ? Because that seems just mean to advise a person to do..
