Negative SEO & Anonymous - The Ultimate Case Study on Negative SEO.

Hey guys,

So I've just done a case study over on my site - http://hashtagseo.co.uk/negative-seo-anonymous-ddos-attacks/

A quick overview -
As Negative SEO and it's effects have been so domineering in the last year or so, I thought I'd investigate it a bit more since a clients server got hit with a huge distributed denial of service attack recently. I've gone into detail on the effects of an attack on a Government website (yes a .gov) and how they were dominating the SERPs with a 7-SERP result and how after just a few days got wiped off the SERPs completely due to the Anonymous attack.

I thought I'd share it with you as it took a hell of an amount of time to research & document as well as it's genuinely interesting.

You know like numbers. How much traffic they used to get and stuff. Also you recovered the site would be nice.

I would also like to see some more recovery data in your case study, it seemed like you didn't touch upon that enough. Although, I did think it was a good read. Anonymous' shenanigans are always interesting.

I don't have other recovery data it's not my site so I don't know before stats etc.. but I'm guessing as they're ranking #1 for around 6 keywords (total EM monthly of 18k) - Guessing they had about 10k monthly uniques?

You know like figures. How much visitors they used to get and things. Also you retrieved the website would be awesome. . . . . . . .

The site is now retrieved but as I said above I didn't own the site.. it's a .gov

You mention a SEO site that got Neg Seo'd with 1 mil blog comments. What site is that? We're the comments "bad" keywords or just the keywords they were trying to rank for?

It was by a BHW member, they mass blog comments same anchor text, same comment over a 3 day time period.
