Hi everyone,

I recently ran into this video and I notice there is a clickable link at the end of the video which takes viewer to a "blogspot.com" blog site.

I understand Youtube has this "associated web site" feature, but the link in the video is linking to Google's Blogger (blogspot.com). Does anyone know how to do this? (Video link: "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MaZ1Kltmng")

Appreciate any input.

Thank you

Associated websites, I'm about to write a guide on how to do this right now.

While your at it, it would be nice to have a tut on putting in those "next video" previews at the end of your video as well.

That's done by the annotations feature that YouTube offers their video uploaders.
Upon uploading a video, you will get the option to add so called annotations to your video, which are elements placed on the video's interface, in which you can write text.
You are also able to place hyperlinks on these annotations, as you saw in the video you linked in the OP. :)

Linking to a specific webpage outside of YouTube itself is supposedly made available by having a "brand channel". Just Google for 'brand channels - YouTube' and you will find it.

Just wrote a guide on associated websites, I think having the "next video" option is called InVideo Programming or something like that, never bothered with it so I can't really help you on that.

@Technic : Thank you.

I understand there is "annotations" features, however, I tried several possible options under "annotations" like Note, Bubble and etc, the link is not clickable in the final result. Now sure what I am missing there...

There is a way of putting clickable links on through adwords, there was a guide to it on here sometime ago, I did it with one of my vids and the link is still there over a year later.

Here, I think the last post on this thread explains how to do it, this is not the original post I read to do my link, but it seems the same method. http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/youtube/174833-how-do-i-embed-link-into-youtube-video.html

You have to be a brand member to have clickable annotations I believe.

@zerofoxtrot:

Thank you.

I tried to add my domain but the "associated website" option doesn't show up. Not sure what I am missing.

I was able to successfully "associate" my domain in Google Web master tool and in Youtube (under channel setting). However, when I try to add my site in annotation, the "Associated Website" option is not available in the "Link" drop down menu. Not sure what I missing here...

Do you have your YouTube account phone verified? Check out the Features page and see if you have to verify anything.

when you have uploaded the video edit it on youtube and you can add these annotations.

that seem to be the issue. Do you have any suggestion as how to get a one time use phone number for verification? I don't want to hand over my numbers to Skynet..I mean G ...

I tried Pinger, it didn't work. G is not sending verification txt to my pinger #

Thank you

VERY good question - I just sent a message to the person who put up that video with the external link (inside the viewable video area), we'll see what she has to say about how she did it. FYI, she does have several thousand subscribers, maybe that plays into things with YouTube creating a brand channel?

Just reached out to the girl with this video on this topic (she responded very quickly). This is her response:

Well, you cannot use any external links.. Youtube only allows "partner" links, and because Blogspot is part of google, and so is youtube, that is the only reason it it works..But if you are trying to add an independent site, as far as I know, it won't work.. If you find out differently, please do tell me. :)

Hope it helps! :)
