In all my time on Flippa (I don't visit much anymore) I have never seen such a shady listing in my life. They were charging people to have their banners pasted on a wall of ads and then ran PPV traffic to it. Interesting concept, but they ripped off a lot of people. There is absolutely no way on earth would anyone have seen even close to a ROI on that.
The listing itself is a joke. I can't believe someone actually paid $16k for that site. Maybe the affiliate data is worth something to them, but it's highly unlikely as it's all about rep, and the sellers of the site already have it. Possibly the buyer database - if someone is stupid enough to buy a banner on that site, they are probably stupid enough to buy pretty much anything you can put infront of them. The way he answered comments was horrific: patronise and belittle those who criticised, brought in shills to add social proof to the comment section ("I bought this it was great" - bullshit!), avoided quite a few good questions and extremely pushy. This is what happens when MMO rip-off merchants try their hand at selling businesses.
I feel strongly against people who do business like this. There are so many people on WF who make their money ripping people off for a living. It's a disgrace. What people don't see is the number of the bigger players over there who have got screwed by FTC lawsuits (and believe me, if you do business like these 2 clowns, you will 100% get sued at some stage). Maybe I'm a bit old school, but seeing people constantly ripped off on Flippa buying crap like this worries me. It doesn't do the industry any good, expect maybe create opportunities for those who run legitimate businesses if they pick up clients who have been screwed before.
