Honestly yeah for your friend, it's scammy as hell, but for anyone who knows seo and could actually help these businesses get more clients I see it as just another sales tactic. Just because they are ranking #1 for one term, doesn't mean there aren't others you can help them with.

Teach your friend some basic seo so he can avoid that bad joo joo in his future that would inevitably come when his clients find out he isn't doing anything, and help him turn his scam tactic into a legitimately beneficial service for his clients. Thanks for sharing man.

So did he actually do SEO for them afterwards or they pay him for nothing? If he didn't, it's not impressive at all making lots of money by scamming. I actually know how I can get quite rich by scamming people - making like $10,000+ in the first few weeks and it's guaranteed to work and I'm sure I could think of a bunch of other methods, but I'd never do it. We live to help other people, not to benefit ourselves by stealing of others.

And to all those people saying who cares if he's scamming people... guess what. I bet you wouldn't be saying that if you're the ones getting scammed.
 
People on this forum need to man the fuck up. If you think this method is the devil's work, you guys are living sheltered lives, let me tell you that right now.
This is taking advantage of idiocy, much like a lot of smart moneymaking methods. There is ZERO scam involved, anyone with the slightest bit of commonsense would double check before forking 3 figures into someone's bank account.
I've been scammed a few times before, and I look at it as a lesson for being ignorant enough to fall for it.
 
I wouldn't personally do this method because I don't really agree with it, however I don't know why people are complaining...

This is blackhatworld, and is posted in the black hat section. Why even bother calling this forum BLACK HAT if there is nothing black hat about it? I see people complaining all the time about spamming, scamming and anything morally grey on this forum and it makes no sense. If you don't agree with it just shut up and ignore the thread, or just go to another forum.
 
I have used this technique for a while and it's very good. You can ask for more anytime you want :)
It is also very good for saving money for big shots.

Haha man, I'm actually getting into the SEO to offline business now and halfway through your post I just bursted out laughing cause I knew where you were going with it.

Now come on guys, were all adults here (ok not all of us but ok). Reading STe's post was fun for me. Nobody is forcing you to use this or similar methods yourself. IF you have good ethics, you don't do it if you have bad ethics you might. Whats the problem here? People intending to do "bad" will find ways whether they're posted on here or not.

I would never use such a method myself. I read all sorts of crap on the internet, including WF, just looking for ideas. I use the internet to gather information that I might use in business. How do you use it, copy every method / idea out there?

he got through the hard part (cold talking) without knowing sh1t and you let him scam?

he has a talent take advantage of it and bank,
plus you will be legit.

You could just add some honesty to it and do a little SEO for good karma.
 
:) A real-life story that happened yesterday:

My son's Sony Ericsson Satio phone was giving some problems after having gotten wet (fell in a pond for about 30 seconds). So, we have this new Sony service center in front of our home. I took the mobile phone to them yesterday. The technicians said they need to change the motherboard, and a few other things. They will need to bring in the MoBo from a bigger city because it were not available with them in our small town. They said the MoBo would alone cost around INR 3k, plus other charges...

I took the phone to a local repairs shop. They got it working and the cost was only INR 200!!! :) When asked what they did to make it work, the guy told my son that he only cleaned all the internals...

Being a Sunday today, I will go tomorrow across my home and give the owner a earful. Also will publish the story in the local newspaper soon. People got to know how these top companies (SONY's name is there on the shop) scam their customers EVERYDAY.

I saw at least 2 other customers who were being told BS by their other 'trained' technicians... MoFUs those!!! I heard one customer was being told that his Xperia needs a MoBo change.

Adding:
My mobile wasn't even opened by Sony technician and he gave me that MoBo change B.S. My phone was working... only complaint was that if the phone was shut down, then it needed the charger to be plugged on to re-start the phone. We also thought that the battery was draining fast and needed a change. Else everything else was working perfectly even after the phone was in the drink and was only Sun-warmed by my son.:)

OP did nothing in comparison to such world-famous companies' routine scams. :)

I wish that the whole world spits on such companies and their "authorized service centers", because they rob their customers through such routine malpractices and expert BS advices as many times as they need to, to make money...

In advertisements: almost every advert is an example of every day cheating that goes on. Are those marketers any better?

In politics: the less said the better!

In offices: everyone who goes to those offline offices has a story to tell in this respect...

So what kind of a scam we are talking about? :)
