Hey,

Sorry ... but no offense to everyone who likes bitcoins and all that hype, but isn't this a marketing forum?

It seems every other thread is about bitcoins and speculating on prices and advice on mining ... surely this has nothing to do with IM?

If i want to earn money by leaving my computer on, i can do so scraping content or proxies and earn more money than hoping i get a bitcoin.

This madness has to stop.

I think people should write updates about bitcoin on the same thread instead of opening new ones.

I agree, forex and stock threads are discouraged but no one has problems with butcoins.

And there's plenty of bitcoin forums out there.

I guess it's sort of related..

Internet Marketing > Making money > Making money with bitcoins?

:)

Letting your PC reach its peak giving loud whirling noises from the case fan while mining for bitcoins which probably takes 1-3 months to at least have 1 bitcoin but having a negative ROI because you have to pay a large electricity bill, I wouldn't call that internet marketing. ^_^

it's happens often there ... some kind of waves .... remember was some time ago a period when there was loads of xrumer threads ? ... and each and every few minutes another noob just open a new thread with xrumer in the title :) ....

For me personally ... I find it's bit strange took so much for peoples to start to talk about it ... since summer of 2009 I think when I first time saw it ...

4.5 years with an average i7 CPU according to jazzc's calculations ;). Oh and not counting the increase of the difficulty...

I tried GPU mining on my medium-high end GTX 560 and it estimated me for a 100 days to get 1 bitcoin... hmm... or I've read it wrong.

That 's because GPUs are much faster than CPUs in mining.

Its because IM'rs have never really looked at trading markets much, its really not that impressive with bitcoins there's been many other securities that have gone up in value like bitcoins have.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "many"....

just like all the "journey to $xxx a day" threads and the "mylikes" or "vagex" threads. there are always trending topics in the forum. i guess its ok if they stay in the lounge.

When a new market emerges - which is often a re-work of a failed obsolete model - the hype and BS takes over which often means that good business prudence and common sense gets thrown out of the window as everyone piles in searching for a quick buck...

Then when all the dust settles and over 90% of investors have been scorched and lost a ton of money...

Next stage comes the inquest and 100% of investors say - WTF why was I so stupid getting hooked into that gamble - I should have known there is no such thing as a free lunch...

Ha. It's not even realistic discussion of BTC. It's all just "marketing" of the BTC and if you try to contradict the success of BTC with real-world, proven investing technical analysis, the inexperienced investors jump on you like a hoard of banshees on their periods.

Everyone and their mom is saying to buy the BTC. Just like when everyone and their mom said to buy MBS because they could do no wrong and when Ponzi schemes were all the rage back a few years ago, then people lost a few dollars here and there...
