hi,

currently im running adsense "authority" sites, adwords landing pages and doing some minor consulting work. Money is ok, I'm more and more anxious about the future, becuase i bought an apartment, need to pay higher bills, im getting older and unfortunately i got a chronic disease which makes work for me very hard.

I'd want to start 1 venture on the side which would be 10-20years future proof. do you have any idea what should i do/invest to be the safest? ATM im talking only about internet ventures. Let's risk assuming the internet will exist in 10-20 years (it will...)

at the moment i think the only answer is REAL authority sites on a timeless, little-changing topic like diets, gym training, etc, updated often with good content. also building a huge email base ( i dont think email will go anywhere)

i know how to code in several languages and can learn new ones fast. i dont wanna work for anybody anymore. been coding for 1 year for a guy from The States.

IamNRE - you are very right, i just bought an apartment a few months ago (paid in cash). i want to buy more real estate in the following years, but im afraid i wont make it and i dont want to ramp up my bills too high by taking a credit for the purchase. and my chronic disease might come back unexpected and i might have a kid soon so it might be real hard.

im wondering what do you think is the safest, internet-wise

i think mobile is changing too fast given the new platforms etc(google glass coming), it would require too big of a team to manage for me.

I think the safest future proof venture would be to have just one or two blogs in a niche you like and become an authority in that niche.

Some examples include viperchill, stevepavlina, the simple dollar, pinch of yum, house of roses, smart passive income.
Almost all of them have built a brand of themselves and are now reaping the rewards.

I am also starting just 2 blogs in niches i am passionate about and will be building a brand ( in addition to the usual SEO, social, MNS, authority crap we do everyday )

It very much depends on you budget, I have some money invested in various investment funds, you don't need much to do that but you should do a lot of research before committing to such a thing, it can be risky. Then there are probably the most stable assets like gold(I mean investment gold, those little pieces that you can actually carry and hide somewhere ) and diamonds (no personal experience with that)

Real estate is usually described as low risk and low yield, that is probably true, also depends on your budget but I would focus on investing into commercial type of buildings - office building, warehouse etc. Apartments can be too volatile in my opinion.

Branded sites do not depend upon a single traffic source as they do not sell content, they sell the brand.

Not future proof. If anything, I don't see the potential that everyone else sees in this, because people are more tech-savvy these days, and aware of spam filters etc, so even achieving a good inbox rate is hard enough these days.
I would say site flipping will always be sustainable, of course there is always risks involved, but you study it well and you can make well-thought out decisions.

You are misunderstaning email marketing with email spamming.
email marketing = build a targeted list, market to those people. That is completely legal and works like a charm.
email spamming = send unsolicited emails to people who never signed up for your 'list'.

i think i will settle with developing authority blogs/sites in english and my native language, as ive been doing for the last year+. obviously i will also grab emails of visitors on all the sites. a part of the money will go into real estate, another into regular savings, and a part for developing new sites (paying writers, manager, etc). authority sites are pretty safe, you can develop them into membership sites, create ebooks, or even publish books based on them/your authority.

i also want to invest some money into creating my own line of supplement products, when i get a little more money, as they are easy and cheap to buy (china etc.); marketing on the internet in my country is pretty easy, and those substances are not really controlled (dont want to cause people any harm, though). with very strong branding and marketing a business like this can go far and is pretty future proof, i think. i already made a killing selling chemical compounds and herbs in the past so i pretty much know how to handle it.

another good idea to do on the side is a dropshipping site. need to find a nice vertical, have some money for branding and marketing and you're good to go for years if you know how to handle it.

another one: publishing books/ebooks in evergreen niches

You are on the right track already. Enter new niches and launch new authority websites. Invest in creating strong social accounts for every website. Invest in FB pages. They bring a lot of traffic and profits for the right niches. Mobile - apps with wide audience.
