Half of my sites are dancing all over the place. Page 1. Page 20. Just kidding, back to page 1. Now Page 6. Page 2. Page 1. Page 15. Page 1.

My site has been in the same spot for quite a while now. I notice quicker updates though with everything else in the serps. For example, fb fanpage "likes" are updated almost daily in the serp.

I have been seeing some pretty large fluctuations for several of my clients. Lately it's been down 60-90+ spots, and then a day or two later it's back up to the first page, most of the time about where it was ranked previously. Wreaks havoc on the nerves when you have a customer that you can't convince to stop looking at daily rankings, instead look at consistent ranking / average as a whole, and who flips out by blowing up your phone and email every time there's a fluctuation. ;) Keeps things interesting I guess. LOL

I have noticed a lot of my sites which hold the bottom of page 1 and top of 2 bouncing around a lot, but the sites which hold the top 5 positions tend to have stuck in place.

My youtube video bounced from page 5 to 3, then to 10 and stuck there for about 2-3 weeks. Building more links now to hopefully get it back up.

Sort of off topic for this thread but do you rank a YouTube vid the same as anything else, by building links to it? Or is there some stuff you can do on YouTube to help (like if other vids link to yours or something)?

Many of the projects moving up and down in small intervals like 1 day. I think they will continue to do the same until they have a valid algorithm which will push out what they consider spammy, low-quality,etc.

Going steady for a while now, no changes at all on my ranked sites.Guess is just some new algos change that bounces some sites up and down until they decide if they are worth their positions..

some are steady and some are all over the place, especially the ones built over the last 3 months

Same here. One in particular was top of page two, bottom of page one depending on the day for a couple of months, now it's nowhere to be found and has been for over a week. Is there a way to see what page you are on without clicking through the pages manually?

James :)

thank god im not the only one having this problem :P

one moment 50 people on my site ... the other second 0... :S
