Hi guys,

So here's the deal: my competitors copied posts of mine from Q & A websites onto their site, keeping my links and content intact but adding the nofollow attribute to them.

One of my friends recommended I use Google's Disavow Tool to get these links removed, what do you guys think? Should I be worried about this?

The competitors have WP sites where they grabbed content from posts and they have low PRs, just like my site.

I would greatly appreciate any help guys.

I'm not sure I follow you. Are you saying that someone copied content of yours that contained links to your site and put it on another site that you don't want it on? If they added the nofollow attribute to those links, using the disavow tool won't work because the links are already not passing on authority due to the no-follow attribute. Are you thinking of using the tool in case the webmaster makes them do-follow?

I would be careful using the disavow tool. Google wants you to do a lot of research and take a lot of steps to remove links on your own before submitting a disavow request.

Yes you are correct - they copied content of mine from various Q & A sites and put it on their site. I guess what bothers me is the fact that they plagiarized me and then added the nofollow attribute to my links (I wouldn't have any problems if they had used my content without the nofollow attribute). If I can't use the Disavow tool for this, I suppose there isn't much I can do besides asking them politely or retaliating, correct?

Since you don't mind the content being there but just the way it is displayed you could send an email to the webmaster first.
If that doesn't work and you can prove the content is yours, why not have a chat about DMCA with their host?

Others may have better solutions and the host could be bulletproof so the above is just a random thought. Still hope it helps.

Yeah i agree with that. Try to work together? I dont see why they wouldnt since they got the information from you.

First off, try to engage with them. No doubt they have their reasons for using the content so see if it can be mutually beneficial to you and to them. Also, getting their backs up right away could increase the prospect of retaliation. If you engage with them and they do nothing to meet you halfway, then contacting their ISP and possibly using Disavow would be the next step. If you can say that you've done everything to resolve it amicably and they've just laughed in your face, then you'll have more ammo to go for them.
